I strongly agree Jay, given that most of Google's algorithm update are focused on user-experience, so it's really important to exemplify how trustworthy the site is for them to grant it with higher search rankings.
If you're using wordpress on your site, there is a plugin that you can install to automate the process of microdata markups - it's called Wordlift (it was suggested by another reader).
