Password protected website

Hi,

I am putting up a personal website and would like to password protect the whole website so that only family have access. Can anyone tell me how to do this or direct me to a tutorial or something similar? I usually use XsitePro but can use Dreamweaver for this.

Thanks
Karen :)

Hi Karen,

If you've got cPanel on your hosting, there's an option in there called "password protect directories" that allows you to put a password on certain directories in your website. It writes it to your .htaccess, I think, so it's probably easier and more secure than running scripts on your pages.

All the best,
Mark
