YouTube videos in search results - how are they choosen?

We all wondered what Youtube would do or how it would be used since it's purchase of $3 Billion +

Videos are now appearing in regular search results.

The question we must ask is.......... how do certain videos get picked to be in the search result? I can't seem to find any kind of pattern.... perhaps we can put our minds together....

One way or another, relevancy will be the key.

They can't have someone at a desk watching videos all day and night to out them into categories. There's no equivalent to OCR software for moving images (tho I have heard rumours there is a military equivalent for stills).

When you upload a video there, there must be some tags or labels you add; like what catagory, sub-catagory and topic you save it into. Using those tags coupled to popularity, would give them a fair guide to use for search ranking.

The rest would jump out at the search bots because of the high link rates and creation of cookies, leaving traces - much the same as the Reactive Criminal Database used by Interpol.
