Remove Bad Links

I'm working on a site who I feel has a lot of bad and spammy links. I want to go about removing these links and then working to get new higher quality ones.

I know this is a rather noob question so I appreciate any help. What is the process of removing bad links in a scalable manner?

Thanks

This was just covered in the Baclink Spamming Thread.. (check out the video link there from Google's Matt Cutts).
Basically though, there is not much you can do to get rid of the bad links. But, they won't do much to harm you. they will simply be discredited and so they wont add any link value to your site.

all you can do is focus on building quality links to your site and building up good conent that people like.
