Windows 7, Windows 8

I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 over the weekend. This is because Windows XP, my old OS, is done. Microsoft no longer allows OEMs to install XP on new PCs beginning last 22 October 2010.

I am loving Windows 7 so far (I also loved the RC which I got to test-drive); it certainly is worth the investment as it works faster than my old OS.

And today I read on Mashable that Windows 8 is coming in two years time. What?!!! So I will have to upgrade again after about two years? I hope not. Software is expensive; saving up for this new OS took me literally years and years. I just hope that Windows 7 will not be phased out too soon. After all, it only turned one last Friday.

LoL, I realized I really need to upgrade! I'm still using Windows XP here. I do have a Vista installed on a separate partition but I still prefer XP especially when testing application and troubleshooting websites.

It was the same case with me :) I mean I kept using an old OS and resisting the pressure to upgrade. And I am talking about Windows 98 SE!!!

I so loved Win 98 SE that long after XP became available and even up till the time that Vista was introduced, I was still using the machine with Win 98 SE installed on it. What finally made me give up is that the machine crashed and my Win 98 SE installer CD was no longer working (too many scratches, too old).

I still do have Win XP on a desktop PC. I cannot upgrade it because it only has 512 RAM and its RAM is DDR2 667 and I can't find 667 RAM cards to buy in our area, so I can't expand the memory. I guess I just have to accept the fact that the desktop is already too old anyway. But it's still good enough for making/typing up school projects, research, plain surfing and facebook and twitter and chatting and even video calling, which is what my kids use it for, even if it's a bit slow compared to my laptop.
