Using other people's youtube videos to help make sells?

Is it ever a good idea to use someone else's youtube video to help make a sale? I have found a couple of educational and informative videos on youtube on my topic, and I think that if people could see those videos it would answer a lot of their questions and move them in the direction of buying the product I am promoting.

I know that it's probably not a good idea to link away from my site to the video, because they might not come back to my site if other things end up grabing their attention. But, I thought I might be able to embede the videos into my website. I've heard that you can do that with your own youtube videos, but is that possible with some else's video? And if it is, do you have to ask their permission first to use their video?

Of course, I would never use someone else's video if it had a link to their website anywhere in the video or under the video. Again, I wouldn't want my traffic wondering off. But, the two videos that I found don't have links and they are not selling anything, just providing information.

What are your thoughts on this?

Yes you can post other YouTube videos to your site. It will help you as long as it is relevant to your article and topic. In fact, the more information you provide the longer visitors will stay on your page. It should help with rankings too as search engines like authority sites.

Do you need to get permission first from the owner of the video that you're planning on embedding into your site?

If the video on YouTube has the option to embed it you can use it without the owner's permission. Videos you can't embed will have this option disabled.

I use a tool called CurationSoft to find youtube videos to share. it works best if you add your own comentary and write up why you are sharing the video and what you got out of it. I also do it to occassionally find cute or funny videos that would relate to my audience from time to time.
