The Gmail Slap!!?

Anyone else (Email Marketers) as worried as I about the new Gmail inbox design?

Marketing messages will automatically go to a separate tab in the inbox, were they are less likely to be read.

check it..

Wonder if other free email providers will follow G?

Thanks for sharing J.C.!

Building relationship is now more important than ever. You need to build that trust with your list. This is the only way around this new feature in Gmail. You have to engage your list, and build their trust so that they will "whitelist" your emails and they go to the inbox instead of anywhere else.

Other email provides might follow, but not anytime soon for sure.

Have a good day!

Agree - I am not bothered by this as I take pride in providing quality, unique content that my readers want to read.

I'm not sure how popular that feature is anyway. A lot of people have turned it off completely as have I. It's really annoying.

The new Gmail inbox design is good. It is easy to use and choose. I can simply pick between primary, social and promotions tabs. Promotions tab has everything to do with our business promotions I suppose.

The Promotions Tab is where all email marketing/newsletters will be sent. They are now sorted into a different mailbox and not part of the main Inbox. Here's an interesting article about it: Even the Name Suggests Opportunity: Gmail's Promotions Tabbed Inbox

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

I am having trouble figuring out how to delete all my emails in the inbox. I get around 2,000 messages per day in my accounts and you used to be able to easily delete them all with one click. Now I have not found out how yet with this new interface.

Does this mean it would be harder than ever before for newbies to get started with email marketing? Do you have any advise for people who want to get started?

Thanks

Just getting started on building a list.... Don't worry.

Think about the number of lists you currently belong too now. You're still getting emails. We all do.

My advise is this. When you setup your email autoresponder campaigns use a domain name email address in the From name.

Do not use gmail or yahoo etc email addresses.

Make it something like this --> yourname@yourwebsite.com

1. It will help with deliverability
2. It reminds people of who you are

Thanks for sharing. I try to keep everything on my own domains and not use free email providers although I do own multiple gmail accounts.

I'm sure like every thing else there will be a correct way to do it. Something I have found is to bold all my links and believe it or not it helps not filter them out.

Thanks again and will keep an eye open.

If you're marketing through email without subscribers, your chances of not landing in the inbox is high. Your best bet is to get subscribers first, otherwise you would have to borrow subscribers within your niche. Google has an algorithm to check spam and marketing trends by looking for keywords such as: free, or make money, etc.
