How To Build An Authority Site?

I am outsourcing my back linking so i want to concentrate on building my site up to an authority site, should i add pages slowly? Say one per week or could i do one a day or more? And also could i just get one article and spin it 50 times and add one of them each time?

Cheers Dave

authority sites are not made by just spinning an article and posting it several times. it is built on original content and sharing really valuable tips and information. You can post as often as you like. personally, I like to run a blog for my authority sites, and on those, I post every day, at least something, and do at least 1 really high quality content page every week.

An easy way to do it is using the installer within cpanel (normally Fantastico or something similar). If you're using something like bluehost, they have a very good one. If your cpanel doesn't have such a thing, you can do it manually too. You can find the download link and instructions at http://wordpress.org/download/

Hey Dave,

John Maxwell said "Leadership is learned daily, not in a day." I think this can also apply to building authority sites. Even if you have 50 original articles you just don't post them on the same day. Get Google's trust by growing your site naturally - maybe publish 1 page everyday for the next 50 days or so.

Here are a couple of t videos I just created last night that may help you:

Hi,

Wordpress IS a blog platform. I'm assuming that you have your pages, so to do a blog, create a category and add "Posts", each post being an article. You could also create multiple categories and place your posts accordingly. Once you have this setup, just place a link to the category(ies) so that visitors can... visit.

I presume that you used wordpress to build your "static" website. If you want to have a blog attached to that "static" website you can create a subfolder ( www.domain.com/subfolder ) or a subdomain ( blog.domain.com ), install wordpress on it and then link to it from the "static" site by adding it to the menu.

Whether you can do the above or not will depend on where you host your "static" wordpress site and how it was set up. i.e., which theme you used, etc. If your hosting service allows you control panel access and you have a theme that allows customized menus, you would be able to do it.

although you could use multiple installations, the easier way would be to simply use a theme that will allow you to do both. My Thoughts ON LIfe Today blog is an example. I have static pages set up with articles and product reviews, and now, I make regular posts. I am using the Thesis theme to set it up and run. It takes a bit of time to learn how to use hooks for styling ( I am still trying to learn that myself) but it is a really good theme to use.

A lot of the authority blogs I read, the authors trend is to get in one post per day. Which I think is increddible.

I notice that they often using other people's blog entries to inspire them on what to post about.

... going like this... They wake up, get their coffee, read their blogs on their topics of interest that morning, then they become inspired and tailor their inspiration towards their own readership, sometimes even referencing the inspirational source.

The blog I'm thinking about in particular is a blog about product development and general business. But I also see this model applied in the green living / architecture blogs.

Most of the efficiency living blogs leverage their authority off the inspiration of other authority blogs in the market. They all hit the same ground occasionally and most of them even cross reference each other as inspiration for writing a new post. Makes for good relationship building. It also goes to show you that the market, whatever it is, is big enough for your personal outlook & touch.

yep, adbox, its called riff posting, where we get an idea from someone else's blog. One reason we do that is called LInk baiting, where we do a post with links to a lot of other blogs and websites with relevant content. The reason why is because these resource posts tend to get the natural linking. Viral marketing 101. Share something valuable and people will link to it.
