From Affiliate Marketing to Selling Own Digital Products

Hello again Affiloramers,

I've got a question:

Are there members who started with affiliate marketing and successfully made it to selling their own digital products (online courses, ebooks, etc)?

Guys, please respond. I'd like to hear your stories and experiences first-hand.

 Clayton Terao is one Affiloblueprint member who made the transition from affiliate marketing to making his own digital product. One of his products was included as a bonus in Affiloblueprint 3 when it was first released.

 Unfortunately, it has been some time since I last saw Clayton in the forums. It's not at all that surprising as most of our members tend to move on to other ventures once they've built their websites and seen earnings.

 I won’t say that I have successfully made it, but I have been working up my way and adding up to my revenue and wish to continue it there. It has not been easy at all, but you go to get stuck in if we are to go far. One thing that I have clearly understood in recent times is that nothing comes running, it all takes time and we have to be up to the mark for it.

 Although I don't say much, I still stop by from time to time. Clayton is one, Matt Carter is another, and I did for a while myself. The thing is that most of Marks students who have made that transition are busy working their own business. Since many of them aren't in the IM niche, they don't spend much time, if any, on IM forums.

RightNow, I am rebuilding my own business using affiliate promotions with my plan to create my own products and services once I build up my following
This products are already in development but will be influenced by input from my following as I build it up.

Affiliate marketing is suitable for all products (offline or online), nowadays, online sources/online learning are one of the most popular service and it develeps very quickly.

 To be honest, I'm a poet, so I started off trying to sell my own products, but failed at it. So right now I'm actually trying to learn how to sell things through affiliate marketing so that I can eventually advertise my own creative projects such as poetry, books, how-to books, etc. without having to go through a publisher.
I do enjoy jmpruit's suggestion, though. Sell affiliate products which match the niche of your personal product so that you can convert your following to buying your product rather than, or perhaps simultaneously with, other people's products.
