Dropped Search Results

Hi

I am hoping that someone can give me some advice.
I set up a website last year and added content, did article marketing etc and in April started to get traffic from Google.

The website is: http://ayurveda-medicine.com

This has been a bit experimental and I have learned a lot and spent a lot of time etc but have not been happy with the results etc....

This traffic was building nicely;
April 130 visits
May 1009 visits
June 1619 visits
July 2191 visits
August 115 visits - what happened?

I guess my questions are;
What happened?
What should I do about it?
Then, moving forward how should I be doing things?

I have some other sites too, but have not been active on these ... probably should be;
http://www.breadman-tr2500.com
http://www.cuisineart-smartstick.com
http://www.kitchenaid-professional.com
and a couple of others including a new blog I am setting up for my "real" business;
http://www.stuartwillsblog.com

I know .... I am going through the lessons here now.
I quite enjoy this work (part-time) but feel I waste a lot of time doing things which may not be required etc and probably missing the important stuff.
I don't have a lot more money to throw at it either and need to start seeing money hitting the bank account.

Any idea's and help is appreciated....

Hi swillsbiz,

First of all, your website looks great and the content are good as well. Have you tried analyzing your keywords? I noticed you have more generic keywords than "buyer-intent" and "emergency" keywords. Try to add more keywords that people will usually look online.

Also, perhaps you should build a list as well? You can insert a sign-up box in your page so people can subscribe to your updates or newsletters. A list is very important, especially during the time when you get less traffic. If you already have a list, you do not need to focus on getting more traffic since you already have a good list of followers.

The information/content you have in your website are useful, but it is also a good idea if you can post product reviews as well. This way you are providing customer/readers a glimpse of the products you are promoting. You can also add product names that are searchable online.

I hope that helps.

Thanks Mary

I appreciate your feedback.
It is also good to get some tips from someone that "knows" their stuff and also I appreciate the little bit of positive feedback regarding the content too.

The idea of actual product reviews is helpful - I will get started on this.
Also having a sign-up to a newsletter - still learning how to best do this...

I will also do some learning here on using "buyer-intent" and "emergency" keywords rather than generic ones. I'm sure this makes sense, but not exactly sure what you mean .... yet.

Anyway, thanks again.
The feedback is very helpful and hopefully will only improve the way I do things.

Regards
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

No problem at all. :)

For buyer intent and emergency keywords these are keywords that consumers/searchers look up online because they are interested to buy it or they need it badly. Some examples of buyer intent and emergency keywords are:

dog training books on sale
dog training video tutorials
DIY dog training videos

I hope that helps. :)

Hi Stuart,

You need to put yourself in the potential customer's shoes and think like they would think. What would you search for if you were looking for a specific product or solution? For example, a visitor looking for "how to fix my kitchenaid" is nothing like someone searching for "where to buy a kitchenaid". Same product, two very different intentions.
