Does Awstats count my visits to my own site?

Does awstats on hostgator counts the number of my visits to my website too? And if it does how do I know how many people other than me visited my website?

Thank you

The Money is definitely in the list. At least that is what everybody thinks.
But after 3 years online I figured out that money is in the TEAM.

Yes it does. But, you can remove your own IP address in the stats so that your visits will not be included. You need to edit the config file to change the SkipHosts parameter. If your own IP address is 111.222.333.444, use SkipHosts="111.222.333.444"

You could read through the Awstats FAQ for more information.

Here is the contents of the FAQ Michelle refers to ...

# FAQ-COM140 : HOW CAN I EXCLUDE MY IP ADDRESS (OR WHOLE SUBNET MASK) FROM STATS ?
PROBLEM:
I don't want to see my own IP address in the stats or I want to exclude counting visits from a whole subnet.
SOLUTION:
You must edit the config file to change the SkipHosts parameter.
For example, to exclude:
# your own IP address 123.123.123.123, use SkipHosts="123.123.123.123"
# the whole subnet 123.123.123.xxx, use SkipHosts="REGEX[^123\.123\.123\.]"
# all sub hosts xxx.myintranet.com, use SkipHosts="REGEX[\.myintranet\.com$]" (This one works only if DNS lookup is already done in your log file).

If using Google Analytics you can usually just update the plugin setting to exclude logged in WP users, which can be an easier way of removing yourself from the stats.

The AWStats config file is located in the /tmp/awstats/ directory.

It is called awstats.your_site_name.conf, where your_site_name is the name of your web site.
