Differences in searching from google.com.au & google.com?

Hi,

Was wondering how i can change the settings on google such that i search from an American market point of view? (http://www.google.com as opposed to http://www.google.com.au)

Also does it matter whether i'm doing my keyword research from google.com.au as opposed to the google.com(US)?
I'm pretty sure i heard from the video that different mkts (.com.au/ .com.sg / .com.uk) show different search results...and using Traffic Travis...does that also reflect the search results based on where i am geographically? eg. I'm in Aus and it reflects google.com.au search results?

Regards,
Gerald

When you use traffic travis you can choose the google country location for the search engine tools, ppc analysis, and seo analysis modules.

With google search you can choose the region in advanced search so that it will show results from whatever country you choose from the drop down. If you do not see region on the advanced search page, you need to click where it says "Date, usage rights, numeric range, and more".

To make sure that I get the real US ads results on Google, I do a little trick: I add this code at the end of the long url in the address bar: &gl=us

It works.
