Dashes in URL's?

Hey all, so just out of curiosity what do you all think about -'s in URL's? Like affilo-rama.com I read the blog Mark made a few months back, good stuff. He raises the point that some might think it to be spammy. Being new at this I personally never would have thought that by looking at sites with a dash, but thinking about it I could see how some would. Anyone out there who would completely avoid sites with dashes?

Dashes are fine. Try for a domain without one though and use dashes for page names like "http://www.domain.com/help-me.html"

They're fine as long as they're not overused. A-site-that-looks-like-this.com looks stupid, but having 1 dash is fine.
