Confused! exact match dilemma

Using the google keyword tool, on an exact match with these two example keywords.
"weight loss ebook" with 200 monthly searches and "the weight loss ebook" 100 monthly searches
If i were to use "the weight loss ebook" would it add up to 300 monthly searches?

I see what your getting at. You're trying to get 2 keywords with one stone, right?

As long as you rank well for both, then theoretically, you should get your estimated 300. That's the factor you should consider.

not really worth using it on two pages. you are only adding one word, so that page will be optimized for both terms.
