Comments and articles being used

In my dashboard on the comments button I am getting emails showing me who is using my articles. It has the author name and what heading or title they are using and then a link to their website so I can see if they are using my article correctly. Then in the comments it has approve, reply, edit, spam and trash. Am I meant to answer these? Is it to find out who is using my articles and if they are leaving the links in tact? Im not sure what to do with these? Am I meant to take action and answer? And what if they are not using the article correctly, can I answer them through this method - not sure what to do?
Thanks so much

What you are seeing is called pingbacks. With blogs like wordpress, they notify you when someone links to your site. if you are using the affilotheme, you dont do anything with them. just delete them. It is basically notifying you that another blog has links to your site.

IF you are using a network like AMA, you will be getting a lot of these pingbacks. just ignore them, or delete them for now. there are some things you can do later on, but they are more advanced. focus on basic link building for right now, and don't worry about it.

You could uncheck the box under your post that says accept pingback and not get them at all.

Is there any advantage to getting these things at all? I had been approving them as comments -is that a bad idea?

it will make your site look spammy if you have turned comments on in your site, and for strict affiliate sites like these, you dont want all thosee links to distract people from your main goal which is to send traffic to the affiliate programs or your newsletter.

They are only advantageous to a blog, and really not that great for a blog. The reason people use them is many blogs have a 'Trackback" section in the blog posts, where they show other sites that are linking to them, so that people can check it out. We are not really running those kind of blogs here, we are just using WP because of how easy it is to get newbies started without ripping their hair out over web design issues.

If I uncheck the box that says accept pingbacks" in the HTML editor, this will get rid of this, but will I not lose a link to my site?

Also I DO want to have people commenting (real comments) on some of my blogs because they are health blogs often warranting a real comment. So is teh best siolution just to delete every pingback comment?

these trackbacks are to lower quality sites yoiu are not losing your links on those sites. what is happening is those trackbacks create a reciprocal link which lowers the value that you get out of that link. AMA blogs are low value as it is, lowering it would make them worthless.

So do I delete em when I get em or just uncheck the boxes to say I don't want to receive them?

I just delete them myself. one thing I do though that others don't is I will follow those trackbacks, and if the site looks somewhat decent I will build links to it through an AMR submission or bookmarking etc. of course, I spend more time than most people to make sure my spins are really well done.

This is work most people dont waste time on, but it gives the links to your site more power and value if they have some inbound links to them.
