Are we all too dependent on Google?

Is there some tipping point in all of this where we are all scrambling to get on that first page of google? Are they the only game in town for the next year, next ten years? As we get more experienced in SEO, content, etc it looks as if we only have google to show for our hard work. they change their search criteria and then we have to guess what they are doing? Wont there be a bottleneck of sorts eventually or natural search to become paid search based on the demand all internet marketers have of google? Bing? Yahoo? what about them? not worth chasing those? I remember there was only one telephone company and we had to put up with their fees, terrible service, etc. Is google the new old phone company?

They have never been the only game in town . \the truth is google controls most o f the search traffic, but over 60% of the web never uses search engines. MOre and more, people are turning to social sites. Get your content on social media sites, use social bookmarking, and get articles posted on blogs within your niche. AmA is ok, but you want your articles on high traffic blogs as well.

Go search for niche blogs, and contact the owner. ask to guest post on their blog. offfer them something of value to them other than just a free article. Most bloggers with any decent traffic will get a lot of requests for guest posting, so you need to make your offer stand out. However, one or two good traffic guest posts can drive your site a lot of traffic.
