Are cannabis-related sites an affilate no-no?

I created a fantastic, content rich cannabis-related site. The trouble I'm having now is finding sources for paid clicks and places to run ads.

Facebook will not accept ads for anything cannabis so that's out and I was hoping to go that route, for now.

The major paid clicks sources I've contacted either will not get back to me of will not deal with me, at all.

Am I just to early for all this?

BTW: I'm in the US and the site is geared to US viewers.

This is actually a hard niche to promote as the topic is usually considered taboo for most sites like Facebook. What you can do is to promote the site to related websites. Try to ask them if they accept paid ads on their sites.

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to get reciprocal links between like-minded sites but there are so few right now. I may end up having to rely on organic search engine visitors. That will come but will take time.

Question:

One well known paid click supplier said my site was not the type their clicks will work for. Here is his exact statement "our traffic is primarily targeted for bizopp or the make money online niche. Won't work for your website :)"

Even though I have 8 different affiliate companies represented and 13 Amazon links. Then, the more I thought about it what I think he was getting at was my site was not a "how to make money on line" type of site.

One of those sites that wants to sell you a how-to PDF or video on how to make money on-line. So people who want to make money online selling info to others on how to make money online.

Am I correct in this thinking. Is this the primary focus for using paid clicks?

Most paid ads are about business or internet marketing or affiliate marketing niches only. If you are not targeting thee niches, then you won't get accepted.

Thus, I suggested to target related websites only and inquire if they offer paid ads.

Yeah, it's such a shame that cool legitimate cannabis sites can't be promoted on international or national sites that often. It's time for the weed revolution!!

Cannabis-related sites are most certainly not a no-no... If it was so you wouldn't be able to find any cannabis related offer on any affiliate network out there... We at GuruMedia have few different cannabis related offer and they all have incredible stats and sales.

When you put your head into it, you can always find a way to promote a product... First of all Facebook isn't the only traffic source out there, and even if it was you could still promote a cannabis product but you would shift your strategy and instead of promoting it directly, you would promote it indirectly by using facebook ads... So it's possible certainly to promote it even with Facebook as a traffic source.

But my recommendation is to definitely explore other traffic sources as well... Why not trying with Instagram influencers traffic if you manage to find a good one in your niche, or try with push notification traffic so many ad networks provide these days etc. Solo ads another good option and so on.

For niche like that you can try adult paid traffic if they will allow you too with some unique angel. And yes Insta and Youtube bloggers and influencers in exchange for some;) LOL Also marketing on forums. Some e-mail marketing to those you collect on your website form. And as well invest strongly in SEO! That's main source should be in that case.
