Anyone used MailChimp?

I just stumbled across it today.

http://www.mailchimp.com/

Looks like it's free for up to 500 subscribers. Has anybody had much of a play with it?

Could be a useful solution for people with new sites who can't really justify the $20/month for an Aweber account at the moment.

I like the monkey.

I haven't used it myself though I have heard good things about it.

Sorry, that's the best I can offer ;O)

You know I was thinking that if you could use it up to 500 members at a time, you could just restart a new list after reaching another 500. Or, you could probably upgrade if your list is producing nicely.

I was considering this program too but "free" is sometimes scary. I may give it a try. If I do I'll post my thoughts. I was wondering how easy it is to integrate it into Wordpress.

Okay, after very little prodding, I dove into free mail chimp. This is my first autoresponder project ever...

Mail chimp is fairly easy to use and there are a few decent tutorial videos. I wish I wouldn't have gotten sidetracked a bit by the all in one recorded webinar. I spent way too much time on campaign building before I realized I spent way too much time.

Now, there were some killer coding problems because my opt in form was huge, covering other parts of my blog, etc. It was ugly. The problem is that both the stock and semi-custom opt in forms are not very friendly with artisteer generated blogs. Can't use it as a widget and the wordpress plugin didn't work for me either. So....

I had to redesign a blogroll block by going into WP sidebar editor and had to change the code to insert the opt in form so that it at least is functional and presentable. Sizing was a bit of a hassle. It still isn't absolutely perfect, but I can't spend another moment on it. I want it up and I want to generate a list. We'll see what happens.

Hey, it's free. At least for a list of 500 anyway.

Can't argue with that at all! Thanks for the heads up.
