Another "Amazon rejected me" thread

That's right guys, you love to read 'em, we love to write 'em.

So my site was recently rejected and I was given the following response:

"Hello,

After careful review of your Associates application, we've decided not to approve your application to become an Amazon Associate. Accordingly, we've closed the account under which you had been temporarily approved.

We have taken this step because we have previously closed an account that we have determined belongs to you or a person affiliated with you or acting in concert with you for violations of the Associates Program Operating Agreement, the Product Advertising API License Agreement, or one of the other Associates Programs operated by our affiliates.

You can find the complete terms of the Operating Agreement and its Schedules via this link: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com...ates/agreement.

Thank you for your understanding."

Fair enough. Seems bizarre to me. Such a vague response. The thing is, there is no possible way that I am affiliated with or acting in concert with anyone on my site. It's just me and the only other amazon affiliate site I run is not affected. In fact I'm kind of scared they will link me to this new site and ban my other one. I'm glad I started a new account so that my original site didn't get banned too.

The thing is, I want to try to reapply but they have made it pretty clear that they won't accept my application.

Has anyone had any success with calling Amazon and finding out the reason for their rejection? For your information, this is their response when I asked for my information:

"
Hello, Ben.

As previously stated, weve determined that we're not able to approve your application to become an Amazon Associate. Future applications will most likely be rejected as well.

You can find the complete terms of the Operating Agreement, including the Linking Requirements and Participation Requirements, via this link: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com...ates/agreement.

Because this decision is final, further requests to review your application will not receive a response.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Thank you.

It would be nice to find an alternative affiliate but the commission for my niche is famously low elsewhere (electronics).

I know a lot of you will say "Read the email, that is the reason why they shut down your account". But it makes no sense to me. I mean if it was a linking problem or disclaimer problem at least I would know, but it seems like they are saying they shut my site down because they believe I am someone who is affiliated with another site they shut down.

This makes me think there is indeed nothing wrong with my site and it's a mistake which is incredibly frustrating. I WAS running skimlinks on my site during the process, could this have potentially been what did it?

Apologies to start another one of these threads but I just wanted some opinions before I continue (or give something like CJ/newegg a try).

I'm just curious as to why Amazon keeps on rejecting your site. What your site is all about and what are the products/services you are offering?

Well to be fair they only rejected it once and this was after the 3 month trial period was over. I had made sales (not many). I haven't been rejected before and my other site has not been affected. The two sites are not connected in any way besides my name. I had no payment or tax info entered.

My site is a rather generic review site for consumer electronics.

My thinking is that they somehow assumed I was in cahootz with someone or previously owned a site that has violated their terms. This is simply not true, not even slightly possible.

It looks to me that they did not reject your site they rejected your second account. You, yourself state that you have another account, you can only have one. So, why didn't you just add the new site to your existing account and get a new tracking code.

Good point! The reason I am scared to do this is because it appears they have denied my new account for violating some kind of policies of terms and conditions. If I add this site to my existing account, does it not put my original site and account at risk?

I am starting to make decent money on my first account, I am scared that they will see the site on my other account and think "Oh hey, it's that guy we banned for some nefarious reason, lets ban his other sites now".

Right now I don't really want to take that risk.

Can you point me to where it says that you can only have one Amazon Associates account? I know they recommend you use tracking ID's but I couldn't see where they forbid more than one user account.

My plan at the moment is to apply again under someone elses details. See if we can get past it.

I do not think it should affect your original account. It was the second account you were applying for that caused the problem.

You might want to just contact amazon and explain that you did not realize you could have multiple sites and multiple tracking I.D's and you would like to add the new site to your account
