Analytics Puzzle

Can anyone explain what might have happened . My bounce rate suddenly dropped on April 26. I didn't add any post or pages on that date, in fact hadn't done anything much in May as the sales were trickling in nicely. None of my other sites have been affected so any Google changes seem unlikely.
I did find some info on a script that you can add to the Theme footer to improve bounce rates but I haven't added it.

I'm not complaining, my pageviews have gone up nearly double and the bounce rate is nearly zero...... I just would like to know what happened.

That is definitely odd. I have never seen a bounce rate drop to 0 and still be receiving traffic

Hi info209,

That looks a bit off to me. Never heard of a zero bounce rate before. I will run this through with a member of our technical staff and let you know as soon as I have feedback.

All the best!

Hi info209,

I'm sorry, we do not have any other ideas as to why the bounce rate would be 0. Please get in touch with the experts in the Google Forum:

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Bounce rate dropped to zero and page views almost doubled: Sounds to me like something on your page is triggering a second page view on the same page. To Analytics this might look like some one is...

1) Visiting more than one page on your website ( = very low bounce rate)
2) Viewing more pages per visit (= increased pageviews)

Call me pessimist, but I don't expect that people are suddenly deciding to take a deeper look around your site for no reason whatsoever ;)

Have you added any scripts or made any changes to your site (including adding/removing plugins, banner code, redirects etc) before April 26?

I found this article:

And also this discussion, where they found the culprit was a WordPress plugin but didn't mention which one:

Oh, and another: Is there a possibility that you have two instances of your Google Analytics tracking code in your page?

If you view the source of your page (right click, view source) and do a search for UA- or something else in your GA code, you might dig something up.

I have had something similar to what you are having, my bounce rate dropped about 25 points and at the same time I am showing more page views but not showing time on the site so I may show a visit from someone with 2 or 3 pages views but zero time and how can that happen.
