Analysis Paralysis - Read this

If you are struggling with choosing keywords and stuck in Analysis Paralysis, I want to share with some test results from my newest site. The site is about 2-3 weeks old with almost no backlinks. All pages have A+ for SEO

As you can see below, its hard to tell how Google will rank you pages.

When I look at these stats, I cant find any connection between ranking and SEO competition / Title competition.
Im using free version of Traffic Travis so I can only see the top 50 results for ranking

SV = Search Volume
SEOTC = Title Competition
SEOC = Competition
GP = Current position in Google

SV SEOTC SEOC GP

2 - 3 weeks isn't nearly enough time to get any sort of real results because your ranking will still be changing rather quickly.

A lot of it depends on when Google indexes your site and pages.

I remember some previous discussion on how new sites tend to rank better in the beginning because (only hypothetical reasoning) Google likes to keep new news out in the forefront but then tends to file everything back towards bottom once it isn't considered "new" anymore.

I've experienced this with my websites as well. In fact I've had subpages on my sites jump dramatically for very short periods of time.

So you'll have to wait a while longer and track your results over time to see where they are truly going to settle.

took 3 months for my first site to stablilze in the rankings. as your domain gains age, and trust, your new content will stablize more quickly, but it still takes time.

A very interesting post, any chance you could update us with your site rankings in a couple of months time. Rankings fluctuate a fair bit at the start for sure. The factors that affect rankings that are taken in to consideration in programs like Traffic Travis and Market Samurai should be thought of as a best approximation. These programs give the best estimates of levels of competition for keywords available, but ultimately the only way to know where your page will end up is to get it uploaded and see what happens. Having A+ on page SEO has given your site the best start possible in terms of gaining rankings and is something we should all strive for.

For really old sites, an update is necessary to avoid going down the pages of Google. Fresh and quality content are what is focused now, especially with the changing algorithms Google is making the past months.
