Adding links to articles being submitted to directories

Hi all,
Just having trouble figuring out how to add links to my articles. Apparently I can put 2 links in my resource box in ezine articles but all I have been able to do is put my website address in it. If I try to link some keyword in the resource box to my website also nothing happens.
This is the same with other directories as well. If I do it on the original and paste to the resource box nothing happens either.

Any assistance gratefully accepted.

Hi Kerry,
You can not just copy your article and paste it somewhere expecting the links to remain active.
In Ezine Articles you highlight the word and use the link tool to add your URL and make it a link.
The code for doing this manually is
< a href=”Insert Your Target URL HERE” target=”_blank”>KEYWORD ANCHOR TEXT HERE!!</a>

You are only allowed 1 text link within the article the last time I checked and it needs to be very relevant to the page you link to.

Hope that helps.

Hi Troy,
Thanks for your help. A couple of further questions for clarification however.

1) I found the link tool in Ezine but it seemed to refuse to work in the resource box.
2) Not sure how to access the code view to insert the html code by hand.
3) There does not appear to be a link tool on the other directories I have tried so far.

I am endeavouring to have a little info in the resource page with keyword linking to my site and then at the bottom having my actual site address in text form but I am having some difficulty.

Cheers

It is hard to tell what you may be doing incorrectly but I know that you can not have links in the first 3 paragraphs.
You might want to ...
1. read.. http://ezinearticles.com/editorial-guidelines.html
2. visit the forums there and ask some questions if you get stuck. http://ezinearticles.com/forums/
3. Read this article on linking.. http://ezinearticles.com/?Essential-HTM ... ps&id=7185
4. Wait until some experienced ezine article people here in the Affilorama can answer you.

I also have read that if you use anchor text on EzineArticles and someone wants to use your article somewhere else, they will or may not keep the URL for that text, so you may want to use the exact URL. Up to you of course.

Not sure why you can not get the URL in the BIO box!
found this as well... http://ezinearticles.com/forums/viewtop ... +box+links
It seems you can just put the Anchor text code in there and they will format it for you.

Thanks Troy,

I will try those suggestions. I am not actually putting any links in the body only in my resource or bio box.

Have a great evening.

For the ezine articles resource box, the links will have to be coded manually. As Troy said above, you need to put in

The target URL should include the http part.

Nice to have your input too Faradina.
I just sent this reply to Troy's answer but it didn't send so I have put it here again.

Where do I put this code you gave me Troy?

< a href=”Insert Your Target URL HERE” target=”_blank”>KEYWORD ANCHOR TEXT HERE!!</a>

Eg If you want to stop dogs chewing it is a good idea......
In this instance the keyword phrase I wish to link to my site is "stop dogs chewing"

< a href="http://dogobediencetips.com" target= ????? >stop dogs chewing</a>

What goes where the ?????? are? and where does the whole line of code go?

I am having trouble following this when it comes to putting into a page which is basically a text page! I have played with html before but am really quite ignorant in handling it.

Hi Kerry,

It should still say target="_blank". That tells the browser to open the target in a new window.

What you will put in is

If you want to <a href="http://dogobediencetips.com" target="_blank">stop dogs chewing</a>

Just paste it into the resource box (that is, if it is the resource box that you want this to appear in).

Success!!
It works so thanks to you both.

Now while on a similar topic I note a couple of article directories Mark suggested have a "nofollow" tag in the resource box. Now if that is the case the search engines are not going to associate the link with my website true or false? To me that totally defeats the purpose of trying to backlink to my site. The two involved are Articlesbase.com and articlealley.com.

Secondly, on articlesbase I submitted an article without any links in the body and just one to my website in the bio box. Lo and behold on viewing I find links on the keywords in the article and of course none are pointing to my website but rather to pages with google ads etc so that readers are being directed elsewhere. This is hardly beneficial to me when I want them coming to my site.

Any suggestions or comment on this?

Regards
