Re: Competitive niches

Yep, fanatic hit the nail on the head. Nothing wrong with picking a large market (often better than the small markets), but you've gotta drill down and find your own niche.

You also have to be better if you're in a competitive place. In smaller niches it's not hard to do this, but in weight loss you've gotta be a bit better in order to stand out.

There are loads of niches and subniches within weight loss. You can do mens stuff, womens stuff, kids stuff, older peoples stuff, weight loss for busy people and on and on it goes.

Post your thoughts here and I'm sure someone will be able to help you pick out one that's good.

Re: Should I Give Up On These 3 Affiliate Products?

Hmm, depends on your strategy. I tend to drive people to my own sites so I can build a list of people and market to them again and again. Direct linking (which is what I'm assuming you're doing) is pretty tough, especially if you can't use the product name.

If you're going to direct link stuff, find a product where you can use the product name without any trouble.

Re: Is it wrong to buy my own copy through my affiliate link?

I've done it with Clickbank, but I don't sign up to other affiliate programs just to get a discount. Really depends on the vendor like Troy mentioned, so check out what the vendor has to say.

Re: Anyone heard of yourworkfromhomeplace.com?

Really Charlie? Care to share a little more about how it works? Less than two weeks ago you ask if they're legit, now you're working from home? Sounds pretty special, unless you actually own the site yourself :)

Re: Acai Berry CPA Offers - Oprah sues!

Yeh I've read about this and it doesn't surprise me. If you go around using other peoples trademarks (especially when it's someone like Oprah) you're going to get into trouble sooner or later.

But I don't think most of these Acai companies are really in it for the long haul. It's more of a cash in while you can type situation.

I think it's going to be good for internet marketers in the long run, even if a lot of people are hurt in the short term.

Re: Should I buy an established website?

I think it's a good strategy if you already have some cash and don't want to wait around for the inertia to disappear. That being said, I wouldn't buy a site just because it was making money, it would need to fit into my overall strategy as well.

Re: The 8 Reasons I make a fulltime living online

hey Jason, I think you're spot on. As they say, the best way to get over a wall is to throw your hat over first. I think most people are pretty content with their lives, which is why it's hard to put in all this effort.

Whereas I associated so much pain to having a job (since all my jobs really sucked) that I was willing to do anything to avoid ever "working" again.

The importance of good links - Guest video by Marc Lindsay

hey Mark,

Interesting video. From what I know about SEO, I doubt those links would have given him too much of a boost if they were completely irrelevant. I believe this has to do with a patent Google brought out not too long ago, something to do with "Topic Sensitive Page Rank".

The patent itself is pretty confusing (google it), but I guess the crux of it is, if the topics aren't related, then the link won't be worth as much. Thats how I read it.

Lifetime ending in 2 days!

hey Mark, sounds like we have a lot of stuff to look forward to. I'm really interested in the video you're doing on the mindset. I think this is an area a lot of people overlook.

The dvd of your fiance going through the same steps as most of us will be great to watch too. If she can do well, I'm sure this will be a big boost for the rest of us.

New Video Lessons and Private Label Rights

hey Mark, you certainly get around :)

I love the tip about making your emails short and adding a link to content on your site. This makes so much sense, I don't know why I wasn't doing it before.

Boy did I get it wrong!:(

Hi Mark,

It's nice to know that you don't need to be perfect in order to make a nice income online. Like you said, you're living proof.

It's also nice to see a guru admit they made a mistake.

Cheers,
