I didn't know that WOW was trademarked, I never usually put the trademark anywhere in the domain name. That said, I should have done more research into this. Also, there are hundreds of sites that have WOW and World of Warcraft in the domain name and as far as I know, World of Warcraft hasn't sent a cease and desist to anyone.
I'm not a lawyer and am unaware whether or not it is illegal to have a trademark within a domain name (e.g. www.paypalsucks.com has been there for years, unharmed by PayPal, yet I know PayPal hates that website), although it pays not to risk such things in any event.
I'm guessing that World of Warcraft probably don't mind people making websites about the game as they encourage more and more people to play world of warcraft. That said, I certainly don't intend to have trademarks or anything of the sort in my domain names for the rest of my sites including any new sites going forward, and if you know something is trademarked then it pays not to have that word in your domain name.

Hey great post Chris and I appreciate your comments about AB.
When I was at Affiliate Summit recently, I found it interesting that all the internet millionaires that I met (which was 20+) were making the vast majority of their incomes from 1 or 2 niches, and only 2 or 3 main forms of marketing (e.g. ppc, email marketing, seo, etc).
While I personally have succeeded in dozens of different niches (which is contrary to what I've found of most other marketers), it is very interesting to look at what most others have done. In hindsight I probably would have done a lot better by focusing on less niches, however I possibly wouldn't have had as much fun int he process and more importantly, perhaps some of my earlier choices of niches wouldn't have been the best 1 or 2 anyway.
Another couple of traits that I've noticed for a long time that seems to separate successful from unsuccessful people are that successful people are people who take action and are willing to fail fast and learn quick. They also have an unstoppable motivation and drive to succeed.
Unsuccessful people tend to procrastinate (they want to know everything first, often over educating themselves before taking any action at all), and also often they have many negative thoughts and doubts running through their minds which leads them to give up at any hurdles.
Anyway, the reason I gave my above comments were because I don't think it is a bad thing to buy other people's courses, but you must make sure that they fit into helping you in your plan (or if you don't have a plan yet, that the product will help you form one).
Your plan doesn't need to be too expansive (the best online marketers are usually focused on one or two niches and usually are mainly focused on only 2 or 3 forms of marketing). So if you already have 2 or 3 forms of marketing mastered (or at least know how to get started) and you have your 1 or 2 niches, plus you must know some copy-writing skills of course, then you don't need to buy any more 'shiny' objects, unless you know in yourself that you are ready for more OR the new shiny object helps you to further enhance your marketing within one of your current skill bases OR the product will help you specifically in your main niche.
I hope the above wasn't too complicated, it is almost 1am here and I'm about to head to bed, but that's my brain dump for the evening and I hope it helps some of you to keep on track and keep focused.
All the best,
Mark

The only reason I did not use the affiloblueprint wordpress theme inside the affiliate blog bootcamp was because some members of the blog bootcamp which comes with affilorama premium are not members of affiloblueprint and hence do not have access to this theme. So I wanted to show you all a way of making affiliate sites even if you don't wish to join affiloblueprint and get our affiloblueprint wordpress theme. Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010
I personally can't think of any physical books that teach affiliate marketing well.
There are several books out there that teach business well, but affiliate marketing, I don't know of any.
Great business books include:
Influence by Robert Cialdini,
Yes! by Robert Cialdini,
Blueprint to a billion by D Thomson,
Getting things done by D Allen,
How to get rich by Felix Dennis
All the best,

I never created an extra site as part of the Affiliate blog bootcamp. I'm guessing someone might have plagiarized my site. Thursday, February 18th, 2010
I usually make ebooks 150+ pages and sell them for $37 - $67, but that's just me. Tuesday, February 16th, 2010
Hey Stacie,
There could be a number of factors at play here, for instance, how many pages do you have on your website? Do you include the words 'cure bad acne' in your landing page? etc.
I strongly recommend you check this out: http://www.affilorama.com/pay-per-click ... ore-in-ppc

Hi Kim, Affilorama hosting is shared hosting, which is currently only available to premium members. It has nothing to do with hostgator. Commented on Friday, March 5th, 2010
Hi Brent,
Thanks for taking the time to comment on this post, I really appreciate you taking the time.
I will update my blog post shortly to be less harsh as I do agree with you in that you do have to take measures against people who are crashing a server. Although it's a shame you can't limit the traffic rather than just nixing it altogether.
I explained to the hostgator support that the surge in traffic was only for a short number of minutes while my email went out to everyone on my subscriber list, but they refused to put it back online and also at first refused to allow me to put up a redirect on my site to redirect it to a dedicated server (2 hours later they agreed to do this).
I admit that I was frustrated when I made this post, and I will adjust it to be more balanced, although it is important that people realize that with any shared hosting, that if they know they are getting a lot of traffic, even if it is just for a few minutes and not for the entire day or week, then they need to be looking at dedicated hosting.
Again, I want to thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed reply, it is a lot more than other webhosts would do. I also want to reiterate that Hostgator Shared Hosting has been very good for the last few years up until this event and I do rate the dedicated hosting highly.

Rudolf, you do raise a good point in that Hostgator is certainly one of the best shared hosts out there. There are not a lot of good options for shared hosting.
To answer your point about how I could be using dedicated hosting, like I mentioned in my last comment, I already do have several dedicated servers. I also like to have at least one shared server hosting for a few of my minor websites and also I was hosting some videos there too (until now) because I like to know who to recommend as a shared host to my members.
Until now, hostgator has been reliable, however I was shocked at how little their customer support appeard to care about my situation and it took me over 2 hours on talking to their support staff to get this matter resolved (where they finally allowed me to move the content to a dedicated server and set up a redirect).
Yes I was frustrated when I posted my story above, but in the past I've had nothing but glowing comments of hostgator and this story brings a little balance, basically warning others if you find you are getting high volume traffic, don't stick with shared hosting forever, it's only great as a starting point. Once you are getting 1000s of visitors a day, then it is risky to stay with it.

I agree with you Hans, this was certainly partly my fault. I should have used my backup solution which rather than direct linking to the video, I should have used my redirect link that I usually use (from my dedicated server at affilorama), that way I could have simply changed that redirect to somewhere else to fix the problem faster.
The only reason that I use shared hosting is so that I know a good shared hosting provider to recommend to affilorama members, but it seems from talking to others that Amazon S3 is the way to go for that kind of thing. I'll check them out. Hostgator shared hosting is fine if you don't expect a lot of traffic all at once, but once you are making enough money, dedicated hosting is a must if you want to minimize your chances of downtime.
Hostgator's dedicated hosting is great, I've never had a problem there. It's just their shared hosting that I've had this issue with that has frustrated me, not least of all their customer service in the matter who were reluctant to be helpful at all. I have had good dealings with their customer support in the past, just to give a balanced perspective. I also use rackspace for dedicated servers, who are second to none, but are about 5 times more expensive than hostgator for dedicated hosting.

Hey to those above who have asked about how this compares to other toolbars, we created it because we found some of the other toolbars to be 'overkill'.
I personally also use SEO Quake but I have it turned off most of the time. It provides great results but it takes up too much space at times and fills up my search results and other pages with data that I'm not always looking for. I switch it on when I need to use it.
With the Affilorama SEO Toolbar it includes the information that I want to know at a quick glance (such as the alexa rank of a website, whether or not the links are follow or no follow, who owns the domain and so forth), without cluttering up my toolbar or browser window with other data.
Some other toolbars out there are great, but I find that I have them switched off most of the time due to the clutter. SEO Quake is my favorite of the other toolbars. I set this Affilorama Toolbar up for myself originally, then released it to my staff, and now have released it to you guys as I know you'll find it useful. We will be adding more features to it over time, but we do want to make it simple, but effective, without being cluttered.

Hey thanks for the typo notes I'll fix them up now. My fault, Gauher asked if I could typo proof it first. Commented on Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Thanks for all the comments, great to get the feedback.
@Charley you might be thinking of web pages, instead of websites? To be honest it's an educated guess at best.
@Joe How long it takes generally varies depending on how well connected your site is - the better the backlinks to your new site the quicker it will get indexed.
