Does anyone know of a Firefox plugin that will provide right mouse button thesaurus suggestions on selected/highlighted text? (without going off to another site in a new tab)
OR something for openoffice to provide the same?

You can actually find that plugin if you search the mozilla website for their available add-ons. I was able to use this add-on before: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/thesaurus-referencecom/
I hope this one works for you.

Thanks Jethro, I did try that one but it takes you off to reference.com for the suggestions, which is OK, just means its more time consuming to rewrite stuff

EDIT: Reading through some google results, and OOO bugtracker, this has been a much asked for feature for a while (years)

I will also try to look for other plugins. Doing it with open office for the mean time, I think is a good Idea. If I find something, I will let you know... Also, if you find one please do let me know too.

Have I just identified a gap/niche in the market here for a thesaurus language tool to help in rewriting articles? Anyone want to pick this one up and run with it?

I am unable to locate such plugin. I use the Dictionary.com plugin but this opens up in a new tab. This is not an add-on but I like using Visual Thesaurus.
Hope that helps. Have a good day!
