No Follow Tags affect article panel, sidebar or both?
When I select nofollow for an article post does it prevent search engines from following the links in the article panel, the sidebar, or both?
Thanks,
Tracy

Hi Tracy,
The no follow tag can be assigned to links or to web pages. If your web page is no follow then search engines will not follow any external links on the web page. You can refer to this article in Google Webmaster discussing how they handle No Follow
Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hi,
When you select no follow for your article post, YES it prevent search engines from following the links. No Follow tags was originally created to block search engines from following links. The nofollow tag simply says to a search engine to disregard this link as it is not to a 'trusted' source. The page at the other end of the no follow link will not benefit in PageRank.

Thanks for those answers but they don't really answer the question I was asking. Maybe I wasn't clear enough.
I use Platinum SEO pack and I can use it to make my links 'no follow' when I'm creating an article post. Does that selection affect the outbound links in the sidebar also? Or only the ones in the article?
Thanks.

It depends on your settings. You have the option to have nofollow settings for category listings, archive listings or tags for each post/page if you are using the Platinum SEO plugin.
If you want to set internal links (links on your sidebar) to be followed and indexed but don’t want to have external links followed, you could try another plugin and search the Wordpress archive: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sea ... llow&sort=
