Hi. Hostgator Hatchling plan gives only a single domain. If I have 2 sites on different niches, one would have to be a subdomain of the other. Would my second "subdomained" site attract less traffic or have trouble getting to the front page of Google because of this? Thanks.

Hi Nakib,
The hatchling plan gives you one domain.
If you want 2 sites you need to upgrade to the next baby plan.
The hatchling plan will only give you 1 domain with subdomains and this is not good for building multiple sites.
A hatchling sub domain is different from a Baby plan add on domain.
I hope that helps.
Regards
Troy

Hey Troy,
I know the two are different, I was wondering if it matters for search engine rankings. From your answer it seems like it does matter. Thanks for the info :)

Oh ok...
Well as far as I know Google look at subdomains as different sites.
( Keep in mind this is Google and they change all the time )
I prefer to have separate domains for each niche or site.
Some people will argue that a subdomain is fine for SEO.
Others will say the opposite.
Also, if you have 50 subdomains and 1 or 2 of those gets banned..then it can also get your main site banned.
However I have found that some do and some don't... I do not know Googles stance on this.
Also, Think about the user.
If I see a domain like [http://learntofly.wehelpyoufly.com]
and I see another domain http://www.learntofly.com
I may choose the second one because it looks more professional and authoritative.
Again, you be the judge.

Reason: unlinked URL as it is only used for illustration and not an actual link

Ok I see. I will probably get my own webhost after I make some sales (for my later sites), I don't have enough money to buy my own yet hehe.
Thanks again,
Nakib

Not a problem.
Read, Read some more then put it into action.
Test and then Test some more and tweak.
Focus is the key.
