Is Affilotheme Responsive Now?

Hi All,

I just joined the program at the beginning of the week, so still new to the setup here.
Been looking at some of the videos, Market Research - Content Creation and just started Site buildingg, so my question is:
As Google is going to penalize anyone without a responsive theme is affilo- theme responsive or is it better for me to purchase a new responsive theme to get me started.

I don't see any benefit in building on a theme that is going to get hit by google for not going along with what they want for their customers.

Can anyone through some light on this for me please, just want to get started on the right foot!

Regards

Frazer

Affilotheme is already mobile-friendly. Here are some details about the new version:

- Accessing an existing AffiloTheme site from a mobile device, on Android or iOS, will display a mobile-friendly version of the content.

A few key changes from desktop:
- The site header banner will not be displayed on mobile [too small to be readable in many cases]
- Only widgets from the primary sidebar will show [below the content], not the secondary sidebar
- Squeeze pages are not responsive, but squeeze forms should work fine [in sidebar or content];
- The desktop appearance settings are largely ignored - the mobile theme appears the same regardless of your main theme settings.

**This rollout requires no customer intervention - if you are using AffiloTheme, your site will automatically use this change.

Is tere an updat on when Affilotheme will be mobile friendly? My rankings are gone.

>> I am sorry to hear that your rankings are gone. However, the reason could be based from a lot of factors like the way you do your SEO and backlinking. Or perhaps, you are just starting on your SEO campaign. It will help if you re-analyze your SEO/backlinking campaign first and see where you have gone wrong.

I recently purchased affilotheme but am having trouble hosting via Affilotheme. When I sign in after reviewing my cart, it says my username and password are not recognised. Would it be the same username and password for my Affilorama login, or do I set up a new one?

Hello,

The login should be the same as your Affilorama's. Make sure that you are logged in to your account first before you proceed for checkout.

Hi,

Mine is not responsive.
I have:
From Appearance menu > Themes, I have info:
Affilotheme SuperMassive Version: 0.2
A child theme for AffiloTheme v4.

From Affilotheme menu > Settings & Update, I have info:
Current Version: 4.1.38.

Any new version available?

Thanks

Just to clarify how we make the AffiloTheme mobile version: It's actually like a separate theme that is detected and loads when someone reaches your site on a mobile device.

Unlike a true "responsive" layout, you can't just test it by shrinking your desktop browser screen. You need to actually look at it on a phone.

If that's how you're testing it, @arjuna_sakti , you'll need to check it out on a phone or tablet to see the mobile version.

If you're looking at it on mobile and you're not getting the mobile version, can you show us your domain please, and we'll have a little look.

Thanks for clarification, Aletta

I generate traffic with PPV with very limited window size, hence I prefer to use Chrome extension to resize to certain windows size without pick my mobile phone. Yes, I know my homepage is responsive on my mobile but not my squeeze page.

Currently I'm using HTML page for squeeze page (resemble Affilotheme a bit) and not Affilotheme's default sq pg. I'd love to use Affilotheme sq pg if possible as it's beautifully design. But since it's not responsive yet, I have to use my other sq pg.

Hi,

I've used the slider provided on my Affilitheme and it's certainly not responsive. It looks awful on tablet as it is just cut off. Should I use a another slider plugin or are you working on this?

Thanks,

Doug

@Doug

We are working on AffiloTheme as a whole to make it better for mobile, but I'm not aware of anyone working on the slideshow feature in particular. It might be best to look for another slideshow plugin.

It still sounds like Affliotheme is not the best for mobile phones. The answer from the staff keeps coming back that Affilotheme is "mobile-friendly" but it does not actually say it is responsive. Can you address this?

Happy to clarify for you, Ruby: Affilotheme is NOT "responsive".

But please make sure that you know what "responsive" actually means. It means that the elements of the page adjust and rearrange as the viewport size changes (as your screen gets smaller) so that the content all fits.

Affilotheme is NOT responsive.

BUT, people using mobile devices ARE able to view websites created with AffiloTheme without having to scroll from side to side, or pinch to zoom. That's because it comes with a built-in version for mobile.

The squeeze pages are the exception to this rule. They do not come with a mobile friendly version. We're currently recommending that people use a plugin like Thrive Content Builder to create responsive squeeze pages, if you're worried about it.

(We'll actually be including this for free for AffiloJetpack members in the coming months.)

I know that "responsive" is the fashionable buzzword these days, but I attended a conference recently where it was argued that responsive isn't always the optimal solution for mobile. It can actually be better to have a mobile version that behaves more like an app.

The reason being is that a lot of the things we do in a desktop layout just don't make sense in a mobile environment. For instance, if your main call to action is "contact us", in a desktop environment you might prompt people to email you, but on a phone it makes more sense to have a "call us" button that uses the functionality available in the phone.

Likewise, sometimes the layout just doesn't make sense, even when it does resize. You can do a whole lot of showing and hiding stuff based on screen size, but that can get bloated. Sometimes you might be better to just create a mobile version from scratch.

I'm just putting that out there for anyone who is hung up on the idea that "responsive is better than a mobile version" idea. Technically not necessarily true.

Having said that, AffiloTheme should still really be responsive :) We're working on it.

Sorry Aletta, but even the mobile friendliness of Affilotheme isn't quite working. Have a look at a screenshot taking of my newly built squeeze page:

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s139/sh/ ... a026d2811d

And to be honest, this is quite unacceptable. My traffic sources are mostly mobile. In June this year, google has announced mobile traffic has surpassed desktop (http://www.smartinsights.com/mobile-mar ... tatistics/). We are in October and still no mobile friendly affilotheme. Tell the guys to speed up development, please.

Thanks.

Hey Luiz,

As mentioned above, squeeze pages are not currently mobile friendly. However what you've got in your screenshot does look like a bug -- your background image is not tiling across the entire width of the page.

We apparently made a fix a little while ago which fixed some issues with the headers in Lady Gray, and it looks like that fix is being inherited on squeeze pages when it really shouldn't.

I've made a high priority bugfix request with our developers, so we'll get that sorted soon. Your visitors will still need to pinch to zoom, but at least it won't look broken.

If mobile traffic is significant for you, I would personally recommend that you look into getting a plugin like Thrive Landing Pages/Content Builder (same thing). A lot of AffiloJetpack users are using it on their sites because it gives you a lot more flexibility (and fancy tools) for your squeeze pages, and it makes responsive pages. We'll actually be rolling it out to AJP members as a bonus in the next couple of months.

I've got some demos here:

http://www.rottenhound.com
http://www.rottenhound.com/squeeze1/
http://www.rottenhound.com/2-step-test-squeeze-page/

I agree that we need to get AffiloTheme squeeze pages sorted ASAP, but this is a really good option in the meantime. If you're an AJP member and you're hosted with us I can get that put onto your site this week if you like.

Hi Aletta,

Thanks for your feedback. Indeed it's really important to get this done asap.

I would appreciate if you could add the thrive plugin to my site, please. I am an AJP member and I am hosting my first site with you guys. Can it be done asap? I want to start a traffic campaign by the end of this week. I am all set, the only thing missing is the website being responsive.

How will you add it? Do I need to add you as a new user/admin? Or will you access it via ftp? Let me know, ok?

I have another question to you, but I don't know if this tread is the appropriate place to do so. I need to add a SSL certificate to my site, so the connection is secure as I'll be collecting emails and stuff. I purchased the certificate via namecheap (Comodo) and I need to generate the CSR code which can only be generated via the hosting provider. I know some people at the forum has said it's not necessary but I think it is.

Kindest regards,
Luiz.

Hi - I've read all the comments here, and I have been struggling with my sites too, I've had every affilo theme installed and none appear to be remotely mobile friendly!

I do accept that they must be mobile friendly if Google Webmaster Tools say they are: - test here:- https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools ... -friendly/

However, affilorama must appreciate that this inability for us to see what our sites look like on mobile, makes the design and layout process very difficult.

It is not what I expected, (considering the cost)! I think affilorama should really push the boat out and get on this like it was an emergency! We need to be able to see the resized images and text, even if just by resizing the screen.

Take any ordinary theme like 2015 for example. That's what we want and need to see. But, with the added affilotheme plugins. Surely it cannot be that hard to do?

To Affilorama.
We need to be able to view and navigate in mobile view in a standard browser. I usually use Mobile test ( http://mobiletest.me/ ) that allows you to test the mobile responsivness of a site.
And..yes you can navigate on the site inside the mobile test window. I only offer this as an example of what I think we need.

Every one of my other ordinary non-affilorama mobile-responsive WP themes works straight out of the box on mobile and is navigable within the mobiletest.me/ tester. Yet none of my AffiloThemes work in mobiletest.me

Hi Andy,

Because AffiloTheme serves up a mobile version of the page (and not a responsive design) you need to test/preview the page with a browser or tool that says to the website "hey, I'm a mobile browser". Simply resizing your screen doesn't work, because it doesn't change the user agent. The website still thinks it's a PC screen, so doesn't give the mobile version.

Most of the mobile testing websites (that I've checked) don't use a mobile user agent, so you won't see the mobile version. I use a plugin for Chrome called "mobile browser emulator" that does give an appropriate user agent. You can also use Chrome's developer tools (view > developer > developer tools > click on the little phone icon in the top left of the console > choose a phone device > reload the page) but you can see from the number of steps that that's a bit tedious :)

Hi There,

I also have recently started a PPC campaign and it seems that according to google my squeeze page is not mobile friendly. From what I have gathered from reading all of the previous posts I need to set up a new squeeze page in Thrive.

Yup, you would need to use Thrive if you wanted a mobile responsive squeeze page. The Affilotheme squeeze pages are NOT mobile friendly.
