...hard to go past article marketing.
I'd welcome all article submissions to this free directory site I have set up.

I visited your site - looks good.
I saw some articles there but I can't see how putting an article on your site gets me a backlink to my site. I saw a set of rules for submitting an article but nothing saying why I should or how I benefit from it.
I'm probably asking a dumb question - I'm good at graphics but this is a weak area of mine (and I'm probably not the only bozo either) - can someone fill me in please?

Add a link in your bio box and then submit your article. 1 free backlink :)

Nice you dropped by. Include a small spiel at the bottom of your article about yourself (a bio) and include a link pointing back to your site. And as Sean says - you have one free backlink to your site.

I thought I should flesh things out a bit for you as I realize my last response was pretty brief.
You may want to take a look at a post I have put up on Squidoo which should go a long way to answering the questions you ask.
http://www.squidoo.com/article_power/
That gives a pretty full account of why submitting articles as part of your SEO strategy is so important.
No doubt you are wondering. So .. what's in it for him? Well the more traffic my site gets the higher my Alexa ranking; the more content I have on the site, the more often it is spidered by the search engines, and the higher I fare in the search results .. this should result in ...yet more traffic. The more sites I have linking in ... should see improved Page Rank. So - all in all we both stand to benefit.
If after reading the Squidoo post you have any further questions I'd be happy to answer them.
Cheers

Thanks for a good answer.
I understand the reasons for the links, in terms of SEO - I looked at your site and couldn't see a way I would benefit by adding an article - now I know.
Maybe there are others out there like me. It might help your site Dale, if you added a blurb to your site pointing out the benefits of contributing to you site - sort of sell the concept a bit and add a link to an article that has a Bio with the link, so they can see exactly what to do.

Hi again Mimenta. You make a good point. Still coming to grips with editing part of the site ... but the main page needs a little bit more info as you suggest. When I have my head together I will do this.
I do have a link from my blog and some further explanatory info re Article Marketing there, but also think it a good idea to incorporate something into the Article Directory site.
I enjoyed visiting your two websites -and with regards 'Mimenta', I thought the choice of colors, the underlying Aussie theme and the beautiful graphic work knitted everything together splendidly.
Cheers
Dale

Thanks for the kind words Dale.
Not a bad Aussie look, for an ex-Kiwi from Epsom/Mt Eden eh?
( I saw you were from Auckalnd on yourSquidoo article). . . For the rest of you poor folks who don't live in Gods Own (NZ) - Epsom and Mt Eden are suburbs of Auckland) . . . LOL)

You're welcome - liked the squidoo article - you could have just put a FAQ up and linked to that Dale, it covers all the questions.
Had a business at Whangaroa before moving back to Auckland then Aussie.
Had relatives in Hamilton - that's why I moved to Aussie ... LOL
Have bookmarked your site - will submit some stuff later this month.
Regards
David HB
