Do I Build Backlinks To Forwarding Domains?

I have a few EMD's(exact match domains) that are re-directed/forwarded to my main business domain, and I wonder if there is any benefit in getting backlinks to these forwarded domains, or is it only useful to get backlinks to the main business domain.

I am interested as the EMD's are very relevant search terms/names/phrases that people will use when searching for my service.
Thanks

Hi Martin,

I don't think there's any point to building backlinks to these domains since they only serve to forward your users to your actual site. It's more productive to build links to your main site.

Google has penalized exact match domains that do not have any content or have low-quality content, so you might be running a risk if you're going to try build backlinks to a site that just refers users to another site.

If you want to build backlinks to those "forwarding domains", then why not turn them into full blown sites instead with articles that refer users to your main site or to a product site?

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hello Cecille,
Thanks for the reply and the advise.
I see what you mean.
My main site is not an affiliate site but my business site, that sells a service and I was just getting some of the new domain names, example -.repair, -.solutions as these are commonly used search terms/phrases that people searching for my type of service are typing into search engines.
So, is it better to setup a simple WP site and install links back to the main site, or are the domains I have purchased a waste of money.
Thanks for your thoughts

Hi Martin,

If you're not going to be building sites with those domain names, then they would turn out to be a waste of money. I would rather use my funds to pay for someone to build quality backlinks to my business site, or maybe, have someone do social marketing for my website. Not only do I build backlinks doing so, I get traffic too.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!
