Broad match versus Direct Match for Keyword Research
I know that keywords in your domain name are not as important as in posts and pages but if I can get a domain name with a keyword phrase I would like to. I do a search on Google for something like, pedigree golden lab and get 1,120,000 hits and then do a search for "pedigree golden lab" and get 9,410 results. I know competing with 1,120,000 hits is not going to happen overnight but what value does the direct match have if any for keyword research and choosing which keywords to dominate?
Thanks
Bill
Thanks

Hi Bill,
Welcome to Affilorama,
You typed in a phrase search.. so the only difference is you are seeing what people type into the search engine with that phrase in a sentence.
For Ex: How do I train my pedigree golden lab
I always like to do a mix of exact, phrase and wide keywords.
Hope that helps, if not let us know so we can help further.
Regards
Troy

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize
they were the big things.

Let me state it this way. I want to rank for the phrase bubbles for kids
bubbles for kids yields 250,000
"bubbles for kids" yields 23,000
Is bubbles for kids a phrase that I would likely be able to dominate just based on those numbers? I have heard you want to have fewer than 50-70K results. In one search I do but the other I don't.
In some of my research I have found cases where the direct search yields more results than not using quotes. For example,
Buy little yellow canaries yields 25,000
"buy little yellow canaries" yields 1,240,000
In this situation the phrase looks good but the direct match makes it look not so profitable of a venture.
Any light on this subject?
