Backlinking

I'm looking for some updated info on building back links is it still good to use spinners or manually submitt articles and what % should a article be spun to and where should articles be submitted. I am getting ready to finish my articles for my first site just want to make sure I have my ducks in a row.

Hi andrwstutzman,

You can still use spinners and Mark recommends this in Affiloblueprint when submitting articles to directories. The spun article should be 50% or more unique. I suggest you keep the best articles for your site and the rest for article submission.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hi andrwstutzman,

Yes, article spinning is still good as long as you do both sentence and word spins. I also agree with Cecille on maintaining at least 50% uniqueness on your spun content.

Aside from submitting to article directories, you may also submit to web 2.0 sites and do link wheels :)

I hope that helps.

Hello

As Cecille said, you should spin articles to be at least 50% unique as of now in order for Google to recognize the link. But if your going to spin articles I suggest that you shoot for at least 65% unique because Google is allways getting better at recognizing spun content and two years from now 50% unique may not be enough.

I know that this can be a pain but you should think of the future to make sure your efforts today will still be effective latter.

Write nothing but great content and rephrase it 4+ times if you can and then you can use this article site list to get them published. You might not want to bother with the pr 0 sites, just get on the sites that have some pr.

As per the Google guidelines relevant backlinks from high page rank and do follow websites are always beneficial. Guest blogging, link wheels, article submissions etc… are good techniques to get back links but make sure submit unique and informative content every time. Avoid the use of mass link exchange and other bad link building activities.

Everyone here is right and I know that it is a pain to keep re typing the same article over and over again to make it 50 or more % unique so what I have done is I bought the dragon word recognition software which types what you say. It is so much easier for me to read one of my articles and change the wording while I am reading it they when I am typing it. It is one of the few things I have spent my money on that I use a lot. I am not trying to sell this product but know during the holidays the put it on sale for about 25% of what it normally sells for.

Good idea Mark - and voice recognition is built-in to Windows 7, so no need to buy anything (except perhaps a good noise-cancelling boom mic). Radio Shack sells a great mic (a clone of a Britney Spears stage mic). I use it for narrating Camtasia Studio tutorial videos and for voice recognition. $26.99 (no, I'm not a Radio Shack affiliate - but maybe I should be).

I use it with the excellent Soundblaster X-Fi audio adapter and control panel for Windows computers (check out the ultra-cool software pro level mixer). As an ex rock touring audio engineer, I can tell you that this is a pro setup for audio at a very low price.

Hope this helps....

Hey all

Thanks Jim Coe for the info about the voice recognition on widows 7, I didn't know I had that. I am thinking about getting the Dragon software as Mark recommends anyway as it seems to be very advanced, great idea Mark.

I think that when you get used to using voice recognition it may get so easy that you may want to write a few articles per week on top of other efforts. If you can get 100 articles together and spin them on article sites or you could just re-write them for each of the top article sites where they will get the most views you could end up with alot of direct traffic over time when other people post them onto blogs.

You're welcome Paul. I think I'm going to start using voice recognition myself. I set it up and did the basic training because a friend had a stroke and is having trouble reading and writing now and I figured it would help him - rather than using it much myself.

Wanna Hire a Robot?
By the way, voice recognition on your computer also let's you "hire a virtual assistant" (an artificial intelligence or chatbot software) robot for your computer - so you can do most everything by voice. One day many of us will be using these. Apple's "Siri" was a tiny first step for Apple, but they are well behind the curve.

A much more advanced artificial assistant is "Denise" by a very smart developer, named "Guile". I've been following Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networking and Genetic Algorithms for years and find Denise very impressive. http://guile3d.com/en/. Check the video on the right of the page (once the built-in video stops playing).

[No, I'm not an affiliate, but now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if Guile has affiliates - hmmmm....]

Hope this helps....

Hi Jim,

Maybe you should consider being one? After all, you have all these product recommendations that can earn you an income (granted that they have an affiliate program or something of the sort.). It's worth looking into as most products have some sort of affiliate program or are part of an affiliate network. A good example is Starbucks. I didn't know they had an affiliate program until I did research for my recent blog post on affiliate programs for coffee.

Have a good day!
