All pages are indexed by Google but not yet ranked

Hello,

I published my first website (it has 15 pages of good content) on 05 th of November. Google has indexed all 15 pages of my website. However, pages are not showing up in search results for key word queries. Does it usually take time for Google to rank pages of a brand new website? or am I overlooking something? I have not done much of link building yet, but I am going to start with it immediately. Any suggestions or information would be of great help for me.

Best Wishes,
Deepak.

Hi Deepak,

Yes, it takes time for search engines to rank your site for its target keywords. I suggest you focus on link building as this helps establish your site's relevance for its target keywords. Search engines will look at these links when ranking your sites so it's best to focus on link building at t his time, instead of ranking.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hello

Slow down Deepak!

Be sure not to build too many links so soon, Google will see this as un-natural and may de-index your site all together. It will take time for your site to rank for it's keywords and if you try to rush things Google will sandbox (de-index) your site for a unknown period of time.

This means that your site will simply vanish from Google untill Google feels like putting it back up. It is best to only build a few links (1-3 in my opinion) per day for the first 6-8 weeks and then maybe up to 5-8 per day untill your site has aged for a while. After your site has been around for 6 months or so, you may up your link building efforts to up to 20 or so per day.

Write a few top notch articles and get them on ezine and goarticles with links to your site and let other people re-publish them on their blogs which will give you some natural links to get you started.

Ranking for any good keyword is a slow process, it could take years for a really good phrase. You must not rush things.

Never Give Up!!!

Hi Deepak,

Since you just published your site last Nov 5, it will take a while for your pages/keywords to get ranked. Also, the time frame depends on how much SEO you have already done.

I suggest you start building links first for 2-3 months and then try to check again your ranking :)

I hope that helps.

Hi,

As you've mentioned your site is now 6 weeks old and thus, your rankings are now showing at search engines' pages. :)

You do not have to worry about the time frame mentioned above. :) As long as you are getting ranked, just continue building quality links to your website :)

Hi msdougly,

You don't have to. I think you're doing just fine and going along the right pace. As I mentioned to Deepak, focus on building links, and while you're at it, get started on promoting your site on social media sites. New sites tend to go in and out of the SERPs while search engines determine the correct rank to give your site so I suggest you work on link building at this time and promoting the site.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Keep in mind that there could be 10,000 sites in the same niche as you are trying to get into so even with doing good back linking it could still take a good while before anything shows up even in the top 100 pages. I think for my main site I looked once a week for at least 3 or 4 months before I found it on like page 88. I am not even sure if google or yahoo even show pages that far back anymore but as I add pages to my site I still look for them but now I don't start looking for at least 3 months it just takes time so be patient.

Thanks for your reply Mark. Yes, Google still returns 900 - 1000 search results for every query. It is possible to adjust search settings in Google to display 100 results per page so that it is easier to search for a page url. I found 4 of my pages in around 700-800 positions. Mark, I am curious about the current ranking of your main site you mentioned as example in your post above. How long did it take for your main site to rank better? and Which position does it rank now? Thanks in advance.

Hello all

It can take quite a while for a webpage to rank into the top 10. I found myself checking into how my pages were ranking way too much and spent too much time looking into how they progressed.

Spend more of your time on getting high quality links and not just any old links.

Or spend time on niche related blogs and social networks to build a reputation so you will be able to get links on these blogs for direct traffic. And you should always be writing about your nich or at least reading about and taking notes so you will be able to write content latter.

Just a thought!

Thanks for your inputs, Paul. Most of the pages of my website are ranking in top 15-80 positions in bing and yahoo search (I guess both these search engines use same algorithm at present). I am happy that at least something is happening. As you suggested, I will keep focusing on building quality links and on activities in niche related networks and blogs.

Thanks for your inputs, Davis. Are you talking about the Google page rank review every 3 months? Does it have to do anything with the ranking of web pages in search results?
