Hi,

After performing lots of searches on forums (including this one) and speaking with a Google AdWords specialist, I find that I am still not understanding what it takes to get a good quality score in AdWords.

In fact, the last comment I got from the Google AdWords specialist was the following:

"...[your site] falls in those category of websites which will continue to receive a low landing page quality even if any changes are made to it..."

I do not understand what that means. Am I being penalized because of the transgressions of a few advertisers in my theme (fitness)?

The site is SixPackAbsGuide.com although I am sending users to a specific review page: sixpackabsguide.com/reviews/truth-about-six-pack-abs/

I have many backlinks and I do pretty well in SE rankings...

Any and all honest advice is greatly appreciated!

p.s. I am currently removing the formatting discussed in the AffilioBlueprint as Google seems to have a major problem with this...

That means that probably your domain name has been marked as low quality site in a manual review. I am not sure if you can get out of it. The problem is that they will never acknowledge it that way, however it is well known to happen to lots of guys.

You can try putting same landing page on a new better designed domain (lots of articles, videos,images etc) and you might see that it receives a fairly good score.

That's what's odd...This site has lots of unique articles, images and videos too...I've spend a lot of time building the content on this site...

doesnt matter, it is an affiliate site, which is now against the google adwords TOS. basically, google doesnt want affiliates anymore. go to yahoo, bing, and other ppc networks, they are cheaper, less hassles, and not so full of themselves that they can piss off their biggest source of revenue.

@james.. can you point me to the page for those TOS (against affiliate site). I do know that they state low merit for low quality affiliate (if your only interest is to send visitors to another site), other than that I am not sure and a link will be really helpful.

they talk about low quality affiliate sites, any pages designed for opt ins (ie. squeeze pages), and promotional advertisement pages. I have also seen too many of the emails that they are sending out left and right telling people that their account is being closed because they are promoting affiliate products. no mention of the quality of their site, just you are promoting affiliate products, and we do not want that.

Granted, a few bad apples have spoiled things for everyone, however, what it comes down to is they are banning affiliates accounts simply for promoting an affialiate product, no matter how high the quality of the affiliate pages are.

Oh yeh that thing, that falls under one of their personal right to decide aka 'manual review'. Forbes.com can sell links in broad daylight but you shouldn't even think of it.

Anyway, I do agree if your site isn't providing any value then there is no reason why Google should entertain it. However, I will prefer if they are more clear about it rather than putting up a five line article that even pure techies cannot figure out.

thats the problem it is ambiguous, and i have been seeing affilaites with higher quality sites than the ones that slip by their review system getting banned.

Just to follow-up, here's a response I got from Adwords:

... the problem is not with your site, it is with the business model that is being advertised in your site which has been found to have a poor user experience. If you go ahead and promote an affiliate business model which is in compliance with our AdWords landing page and site quality guidelines...

landing page must be good and visitor should like it.
