Free PPC Traffic from Facebook
Hey Folks...
I can't tell you how to get it, but I am getting free PPC traffic from Facebook. At least that is how it appears....
I have a site that I am not actively promoting and isn't anywhere useful in the SERPs. Usually it gets 5-10 hits a day on awstats but a few days this month it's gotten over 200... and I made sales from it.
My listing shows traffic from a ton of different Facebook pages but I've never used their sales service.
How likely is it that someone has put my URL in their Facebook ad? It's not a common phrase or one that could be misspelled. And it keeps happening every 4-8 days.
Are there other ways that this could happen?
Thanks,
Stephen

Has someone posted a link to your site on their Facebook page perhaps? Its hard to know sometimes because FB is a bit of walled garden when it comes to search so you cant trace it yourself by just searching.
It is possible that your link has been used in an ad but very rare! I dont think I've heard of that happening.
If you were using Google Analytics there might be a way you can find out the page they came from before arriving at yours ... worth looking into.

Hey Mark,
Thanks for the reply. I looked at the incoming links in awstats (I had it on googs analytics but removed it b/c I was not using the site any more)...
Here are just a few of the pages it shows links from:
facebook dot com
facebook dot com/home.php
facebook dot com/photo.php
facebook dot com/inbox/
Very strange. Today I was back to 7 hits... yesterday 210. I haven't tried Facebook for PPC but wonder how much 210 hits would have cost. LOL

Hey... still getting this free traffic. Not sure what to make of it but I sure wish I knew... it's just funny... I even made some sales from it so that's pretty cool.
Awstats is showing unique IP's for all this traffic and it's all through Facebook...
*shrug*
