I'm running a 50/50 split test in adwords display network. Both ads are in the same adgroup, the control runs, but the experiment doesn't. The ads are set to run equally (not optimize).
Go back and check all the settings to be sure. If you are doing a true split test, focus on just one small change at a time. If all settings are the same, I would suggest checking the adwords forums and helpdesk.
