How to use the forum

The video lessons and notes are only half the picture: the other half lies right here in the Affilorama forum. Our forum is famous for its wealth of information from members, staff and the occasional internet marketing guru who drops by. You'll find a lot of affiliates at various stages of the learning process willing to answer questions, check out your site, make recommendations and generally point you in the right direction.

Announcements - The forum is also the place where we post announcements related to upcoming Affilorama updates / events / notices, etc. Check out the Forum News branch. On occasions we also ask for feedback on topics for upcoming lessons or for Affilorama generally.

Hints for using the forum
Don't be afraid to ask questions -- chances are there are other people wondering the same thing. But before you do, spend some time browsing old threads. A lot of ground has been covered already.
Want to know how to make things bold or create links? Highlight your text and use the BBCode tag buttons at the top of the window. You can read more about BBCode syntax by clicking the link that says "BBCode is ON" on the left of your screen, under the smilies. Remember that you can't use regular HTML in the forum -- you must use BBCode.
Got LOTS of questions? If you've come into the forum with a veritable shopping list of questions, consider breaking them up into multiple forum posts. It's easier for people to answer posts when there are only one or two questions, and it makes it easier to reference at a later date as well. Of course there’s a fine line between "making it easier" and "spamming the forum with 100 questions". We trust you to use your good judgement :)
Posting affiliate links in the forum: Can you do it? Sure! A good idea is to add a URL to your signature -- that way it will appear on all your posts. You can also recommend products through your affiliate link if it's appropriate to the conversation. Keep in mind, though, that this is a forum about affiliate marketing, and we do know what an affiliate link looks like. If it looks like all you're doing is pushing your own affiliate products and not actually contributing much to the forum, people will start to ignore you :) Also anything that looks like blatant affiliate link trolling will be dealt with by the moderators. If it's not going to help anyone else, don't do it.
Sending private messages: If you want to send a private message to a member on the forum, there's a little button down the bottom of a member's post that says "send message". If you log into the forum and a box pops up saying "you have new messages waiting for you in your inbox"... you can access your messages by clicking the "messages" link under the Affilorama header at the top.
Want to send Mark Ling a private message? If you’ve got a burning question that simply must be answered by Mark and Mark alone, feel free to send him a private message. He’s a busy man, but will do his best to get back to you asap. However, if you're just asking general questions, or if you want him to take a look at your site, he might ask you to post your questions in the forum instead. That way other members will be able to contribute and learn from the discussion. In general, he’s more likely to give you a detailed, comprehensive review or reply if you post your questions in the forum.
