Hey guys, what do you think is the best and most popular social networking site on the internet today? Is it friendster, multiply, facebook, myspace, etc?

I know here in new zealand it appears to be facebook, but doing a search on www.alexa.com shows that myspace and facebook are both very popular.

I like how you can contextually advertise on facebook (ie advertise to people who of a certain age, demographic, etc).

Alexa rankings come from people who have the Alexa toolbar installed on their computer. I would say it's somewhat biased: Info comes from people who are prepared to install spyware on their computers, and I think results also tend to be biased towards internet marketing sites.

I guess the social networking site you will choose to have depends on the country where you are based. If all your friends are in facebook, you would be there too. 8)

Yes, MySpace and Facebook are good if you want to market and promote an affiliate product or site because you can choose target market demographic like: gender, location, interests, etc.

Don't worry bout which is "the Best" all those mentioned are great because the have millions of registered useres. Thing to do is get on one at a time and participate in the community and work it little by little. You'll get results from how ever many you want to.
