Financial Services Site

Hello Affilorama,

I joined up a few months ago but I have been buried in my work and have not gotten to browse your guy's forum as much as I would have liked. I did go through all of your free lessons and they helped me immensely getting started in affiliate marketing.

I was hired to build a financial site and have gotten well on my way, but I just thought I would throw this out there. If anyone is working on the same type of site, get a hold of me. I am drying out on directions to go and could definitely use someone to share ideas with that would benefit both of us, or all of us is there is quite a few.

Otherwise your forum seems to be teeming with good information, I just thought I would throw this out there for anyone that is doing the same type of site and wanted to share ideas.

Regards,

LowAPR

Hi LoAPR, perhaps a little more explanation than financial site. There are thousands of sites about different financial matters. What type of financial site is it, and what direction are you working on? teaching people to make money? investments? getting loans? its a huge field that you need to narrow down.

Right now it is mainly credit cards, credit reporting and identity theft protection services, personal loans of every flavor including bad credit loans, payday loans, personal loans, auto loans.

Right now I am starting to run out of directions and would like to make the site as robust as possible with some other offerings. I am still researching those opportunities but I am starting to run into a wall as far as what those could possibly be.

perhaps its best to narrow down to a particular niche within what your suggesting above. Why not just go for say, identity theft services.

Much easier to SEO or adwords a site thats relevant to a single subject, and surely the market is big enough for one single niche, without trying to cover everything

I would love to narrow it down to one niche but unfortunately I was hired to do this site through a business. I currently work on his traditional business site along with managing everything IT. He wants to start small, but not one individual niche topic because he feels like he is being "pigeon holed", if you know that expression.

The good thing is that this project is funded very well as far as anything I need, but the bad thing is I am first a programmer and now just getting into the business side of things and he did not have much direction as to where he wanted to go with the site. That was the second part of him hiring me.

I did not know anything about the affiliate marketing business model and I have been learning as I go. I am sure you have heard it before, but this site has a wealth of information as far as that goes and has helped me immensely and I thank affilorama for that!.

Anyways, if anyone has any niche ideas that might be useful in a financial services site that have a good potential, I would be willing to trade programming knowledge or anything that I have learned along the way.

This is just the starting point, I believe, of what he will want to do after this site is up. Now that he knows the potential for niche markets as well, I think this will be a long term "side" business plan for him.

Wish me luck and thanks for the feedback!
