Email Marketing - Half off Sale
I have a cold email list and planning to do half off price promotion for my product.
1st option:
4 day sale. Consisting of 4 emails with a definite ending time mention in each email. Half off price.
2nd option
72 hour sale, start on Monday.
Then do a 48 hours remaining email.
I can also do a 48 hour extension email.
3 emails in total
Unfortunately my email list is cold and it might have been months (May 2011) since some of them last got an email from me. I don't want to piss them off.
What email strategy should I use for a cold list? Or is there other strategies you can recommend ?

Being that your email list has become "cold" I believe your best initial path is the reestablish the list. A sales pitch to a cold list may get a high percentage of the list to arbitrarily cancel their receiving future emails. I would recommend a few quality informational emails designed to reawaken everyone on the list to you.
After your email list is active then you may consider your sales campaign.

Thanks Margene, I agree.
Maybe one good email the week before. Then start the promotion.
Any other ideas welcome.

I think you you need more than a week or 1 newsletter to awaken your cold list. Maybe two newsletters over a week? Then one on the next week before following it up with your promotion email.

Nice to meet all Friends. Thanks so much for your reply. I really appreciate all of the post that you have given. Very nice information Margene. Well, You should make sure of posting comments on your niche related blogs. Dont post in all posts of a particular blog as Margene said. A single comment on the blog can be very powerful of your comment is valuable.

Hi ssohana36,
MailChimp has HTML Email templates that you can use.
Aweber also has email templates you can use but you have to sign up first: http://www.aweber.com/html-email-templates.htm
Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Email marketing will be more effective as long as you will send quality content. It would also a big help if you will email marketing list to specify all your target customer.
