The posts I saw on this topic were all about a year old so I wanted to bring this up again. Mark had Jason Jell on a webinar recently and one of the things he emphasized was social bookmarking. He did bring up two free services online but I wondered if some of the automated programs out there would be appropriate? Does anyone currently use Bookmarking Demon and what has your experience been with it?

In my opinion social bookmarking is not as powerful as it was a few years ago. But it can be powerful if used properly. Submitting your Website to bookmarking sites is great for getting your site indexed. If you create new accounts and use those to bookmark with then I find the link do not carry much weight or ranking power.

If you take the time to create many bookmarking accounts and take the time to build them up, bookmark to them randomly, mix up each bookmark between useful and insightful and promotional submissions, then they will become much more powerful because bookmarking site will develop page rank and authority.

This can be difficult to do as it will require a lot of management as well as using proxies.

Automated services like socialbot, senuke, and bookmarking demon can make it much more easier to do all of this. Free services have too many limitations and are much too slow and time intensive. Paid solutions are a much better option.

i use the social poster at Article Productions. It has over 300 sites and they are always adding new ones. the owner has been doing social bookmarking services for a while, and also gives great training on how to maximize your social bookmarking efforts.

Social bookmarking can be powerful, if used properly.however it takes a lot of work.

I have over 400 social bookmarking accounts, and I log into each one, making friends requests, commenting on other posts, and engaging the community. They will help with getting your site indexed, and can help with your rankings if you find the do follow ones. however, the real power behind them is becoming involved in the community, and getting direct traffic through them.

I don’t know whether you have used this one or not? But I had used this system before some time Ping.fm is an automated bookmarking system with many network added in one site. You can try this if you have not tried before.

ping.fm is good for posting your links to all the bookmarking sites. however, you still have to engage the social community or else you are wasting your time. social bookmarking is all about being social, and if you don't take time to engage the community your bookmarks will be ignored . this means you wont get much if any traffic, and since most of them are no follow, they dont do much for seo.

there are some bookmarking sites that are do follow, and I use some of them regularly, i have gotten some high rankings on some low competition keywords with that alone.

bookmarking demon is the best. however i think it is better to do it manually because if you submit you links to 1000 sites at once your site can get penalize by google

Many bookmarking sites are catching on to the fact of self-promotion bookmarking. Sure, open up some of your own social bookmarking accounts, but getting votes from many different people is better and will rank you faster.

Ever heard of Mturk? They have thousands of people willing to do small tasks for small amount of money...Social bookmarking, forum posting and what not...Try to do that by using the social bookmarking way, you'll get a more natural approach to it all.

@fastflipwebservices that is true. which is why I always do a 1/10 ratio. I only bookmark 1 post of my own for every 10 i do of someone elses. since I do a lot of blog commenting, thats not hard. I comment, bookmark, go on to the next.

I always prefer manual social bookmarking.However I have heard from some of my friends that bookmarking demon works good but not as perfect as can do with your own hands.

Bookmarking Demon works well but like you, I prefer to do it manually. It takes a huge amount of patience and time though.

Is Mturk cheaper than, say, Odesk, and would you say it's better for getting outsourcers to do social bookmarking and leaving links in forums and relevant blogs than Odesk?
