Are there any free autoresponders that are good?

I am currently using Constant Contact, who offers a 3-month trail. The trail is almost over and I now want to find out if there are any free autoresponder out there before signing up.

Hi ddenby,
You may want to take a look at this free autoresponder, http://www.directresponders.com i'm not sure what the limits are,if any.

I don't think i'll need to worry about limits.

Hi again,
Just remembered another one that is free, and i'm pretty sure that there is a limit to it though. http://ulnoth.com/marketing-tools.php

But it's worth a look.

Thunderbird is a good autoresponder that you can set up on your desktop. It runs with your server (from your hosting, where ever that may be), and is completely free. It has many options, with filters you can set up for all kinds of things.

For a free DirectResponders account, there are limitations as follows:

Number of subscribers allowed: 500
Number of Autoresponders allowed: 2
Number of messages per autoresponder allowed: 21
Maximum broadcast per day: 3
Maximum link tracker allowed: 1

You also cannot import or export subscribers.

I'm using Response2.0.
The free version has some limitations :
- Your first 250 subscribers are FREE - NO importing of leads.
- There will be a footer message on your emails saying where you got your auto responder from and a link to it.
- You will be able to create 5 different auto responder series, with up to 25 follow up letters in each one.
- Double optin feature only (no single optin)
- Only text messages (no html)

Or, you can subscribe to a partner program and get all the limitations removed, without paying any montly fee.
This way, I'm using the upgraded version without spending a penny on it.
At last! A way to create lead pulling websites with free tools!

I am about to test phplist to see if it's any good. Well, actually, I have been meaning to test it for several months now but I never seem to be able to get around to it!
Is there anybody here who has used it?

phplist is an open source newsletter script, which includes multiple mailing lists and attachments. Other supported features include: RSS, click-tracking, scheduling, etc. phplist is free to install and very easy to integrate with any website.
Many of our clients use it because it is free and offers many options. On our hosting platform it can be installed automatically using Elefante Installer - just one click is needed from you to install phplist, as well as many other PHP scripts

So Clarafaie,
If I'm using Wordpress as my platform, in very simple terms (because I'm very simple) how would I install this a)in one of my Affilorama-hosted websites b) in a non-Affilorama-hosted website?

Also is it easy to transfer any subscribers from this on to Aweber, if I decide to do Aweber later?

I am using MailChimp, 500 subscribers and 3,000 free emails per month free. If you go over, you can buy credits instead of committing to the monthly payment plans. As long as you stay under 500/3000, you can stay on the free plan forever.

It's step by step and easy for experienced marketers. Newbies might need invest a few hours to learn how to build their first campaign. They have video tutorials and a webinar so you won't get lost.

Thanks speedy reader
Can I do EVERYTHING that MArk shows us to do in the Affiloblueprint coutrse-including putting video emails on our site-with Mailchimp, or will we need something on top of Mailchimp to do this?

Hi Covenantguy

I have not seen the Affiloblueprint course but Mailchimp does not really promote using video within their emails on their website.

However there are many services (some with trial periods) that will allow you to add video to most autoresponder programs including Mailchimp. A quick Google search brought up Eyejot.com, Sendyourfiles.com, instantvmail.com but I can't recommend one service over the other as I have not tried them yet.

Also keep in mind that with dozens of incompatible file formats, many spam blockers or email protocols will prevent videos from playing, which is why some receivers will get plain text emails as a default (no graphics, fonts, pictures or video). Many of the "get rich" gurus send plain emails with compelling headlines and then if you click their link, it takes you to a page with video.

Best to do some research with these video services and then if you implement video you will be ahead of the vast majority of IM's who use email.
