If I'm targeting a keyphrase "Stop dog barking fast", will I also rank for "Stop dog barking"?

Yes you do have the chance to rank for both terms simultaneously!

That's the advantage of using long-tail keywords. You can rank for the whole long-tail keyword phrase or a portion of it!

If you build incoming links for both these keywords instead of just the one it will help both rank.
