We are building a new iphone apps in dating area at the moment.

I’m wondering how to choose a good name for this small software.

Should we choose a name which is a not high competition keyword? Then we can get small amount of traffic consistantly? Or we should choose a strange name like most web2.0

I wouldnt stress too much weight on the product name, it's more about promotion and product quality but a catchy, easy to remember name always helps - and check you can secure the domain name first.
