Then I kind or wandered around Thailand for a few months.

Now I'm in Portland, OR.

San Francisco North Bay, a little box canyon just past Sausalito and just north of the Golden Gate bridge - a village called "Mill Valley". Lots of coastal redwood trees, town started as a redwood mill and summer homes for the rich folk of SF - long ago. Nice ratio of trees/people (lots more trees).

Yeah, SF has a reputation for being expensive. But like everywhere else, if you've been here a while you can still find inexpensive spots. I guess ones lifestyle might take a hit, compared to many parts of the world, but my own needs are simple enough.

Mill Valley has sadly been much gentrified and most of the musicians and artists who used to thrive here have been forced out. Still, it feels like my home town now and I'm staying.

When we're all "well off" after a couple of years of Online Marketing and can live where ever we choose, I'll already be here, lol.

One of the clerks at the local 7-11 told me he was retiring to the Philippines on the money he made in a few years at 7-11 and could live out the rest of his life in relative luxury there without working - buying a modest house on the beach and getting maid and cooking services. He was like all of 30 years old. And they sure don't pay 7-11 clerks much around here. He must have been living on the cheap around here for sure.
