Im in the process of creating my first lens and am a little confused even with squidoo's instuctions. So here is what i get confussed about.

im at the (Introduction, Contents & Discovery Tool)
intoduction is pretty simple, explain what the lens is about
do i add the body of the lens in this section as well (contents)
i have no idea what the discovery tool is at all??????

after the (mentioned above) there is a list of things i can edit or delete
are they really all required? for just a review style lens
New Text module
New CafePress
New eBay
New Guestbook
New Netflix
New Amazon Voting (Plexo)

sorry if this is a newbie question i know the squidoo craze was a while ago lol

Whenever I build a lens, I pretty much always do it the same way:

Introduction - stock photo plus an introductory paragraph from an article
Text Module - the rest of the article
Video Module - some kind of relevant YouTube video
Link Module - links to money site or other site
Guest Book - Just there for kicks.

I've never done a review-style lens before. I've only made lenses for the sake of backlinks to article pages.

I have gotten mixed opions about useing the content discovery. I personly try not to use them because I think they are ugly and can confuse or lose my visitor to fast, becuse they will scim way too fast though my content.(just my opinion)

As far as the different MODs go you can customize your lens any way you want.
In tool bar at the top near the publish button you will find add mod button, go in there and look at the hundred or so different mods you can add. I like to have 2 or 3 text mod of 200 to 400 words in each, a YouTube mod, "the most important thing mod, Amazon ( if I am promoting an amazon product) and a featured link mod.

Make sure that you use the key word you Are targeting in each mod title as well as a tight key word group in key word list.
Then run it thought traffic Travis and see if there is anything you could in prove on.

I have 2 lenses that i have published
on my profile it says i have not created any lenes from scratch
then is says all of my lenses (all 0 of them) but i have 2 published lenses

im confused

ok, another question i just re publised a lens and everything is ok, the other lens says work in progress and is not currently in squidoos search results

does that mean i need to add to it?

Hi in progress just means not published yet you have to click save draft or publish before you leave squidoo or you can loose content. If it is published it may take time but not much.

Sometimes if you don't have enough content squidoo will seem to take longer to show up not sure why that is but it will eventually show up:)

I personalty like to have at least 2 text mods with 200 or more words in each, plus the other mods like " most important thing", "featured lens" maybe a "you tube" and amizon or ebay if I am promoting a physical product.

I have also noticed that it depends on the subject of your lens.

If you have a hot topic like "Tiger Woods" the search engines as well as squidoo are actively looking for more content. Same with a time sensitive subject like "get tickets" to a certain event.

My point is; unless you need your lens up yesterday, be patient it will be there.
