This is great!
A little back ground. When I first started I barely knew how to write and send E-mail. I started researching ways to make money on line In April 2009, I bought a couple e-books that really didn't do me any good. So I started searching deeper into the subject though forums, blogs and alike. Well one day I happened to find a thread in Yahoo Answers, (I think it was) and there were these two people debating which was a better place to learn affiliate marketing- Affilorama or WealthyAffliliate- needless to say I chose WealthyAffiliate. I would have still been there if someone hadn't stolen my credit card information forcing me to cancel the credit card I had on file with WA. After 5 months of trying to sell something on line I opted to take what I had learn' t, lower my expenses as much as possible and keep at it. In effect canceling my membership to WA.

After a couple of months of going down several different roads to make this darn online money start coming in, I was getting traffic and some of the original idea's that I started with, started to get more traffic but no sells.

Two things kept going though my head, and they were both sayings by potpiegirl. ( If you haven't heard of potpiegirl you can check her out at potpiegirl.com she has a great blog on how to make money online.) anyway she said "If you can do something for a year what many people won't, you will have something you can do for a life time what others CAN'T." She also said something along the lines..."People won't take the pain of change until the pain of not changing becomes too painful." I'm sure I messed that up but you get the point.

To bring my story to an end, I was of course on potpiegirl's list and she introduced me to Mark Ling just before Affilorama's Premium launch, which I obviously bought.

From the start I zeroed in on the affilo blue print, because of my experience I skipped the first couple weeks and focused on building a niche site. I had already had a domain that had maybe 20 back links and getting little traffic and not any ranked key words. After revamping my website to match Mark's blue print I started getting a much more targeted traffic.

So, in about the 6 weeks that I have been a member at Affilorama I have gone from a chicken with his head cut off running after every idea that someone told me was the best way to make money to having two very focused web sites ranking in the search engines with consistent traffic leading to my very first sale!

I know all you gurus out there are thinking "He should have links to all of these products and start making more sells." I was just too excited, I had to get this out there as fast as possible!:)

Hay Mack,
Call me crazy, but I am one of those people that couldn't stand the pain of working for someone else any longer and had to make a change. Once I had a good grip on how IM could work for me and all of the different avenues I could take, I quite my day job before my first sell.

After 20 years in my field I decided to invest my saving in me, right now!
As Will Smith said, "There is no plan B, plan B takes focus off of plan A!

Congrats sonelt! I am making about $ 100 per month right now. In India so even $ 1000 per month by the end of this year wud be cool.

I made a post about Jupiter Jack in April last year and 4 months later was approached by the Optimal Fusion network to join their site and replace the links. Didn't know about my first sale till I got an email a couple of months later saying the first check is in the mail.

I understand the first sale/check is always exciting, keep sharing your experiences and success. What was the product which resulted in ur first sale?

Hey everyone,

Once again thank you for your kind words and I am so happy I could inspire you, that really makes me feel good!

I just want to say that if you have been trying to make your way at IM and you are not seeing the results you had hope for don't quit!

There is something to an aged website that seems to pick up visitors from places you never thought of. I have one site that I was totally neglecting for months. Then I finely went back and check the Google analytic and I was getting a fair amount of traffic for a term or phrase that I hadn't written about but in passing.

Well I wrote a 500 word article on that phrase, added 3 or 4 back links to that page in my website and more than doubled my traffic with in 3 days. Turns out that there are 2,500 people per month searching that phrase with little compilation.

Just remember 2 things, sometimes (and know you don't want to hear this, I know I hate hearing it) a website is like a fine wine, it needs to age before it builds legs. Second, check your analytic s, find a pattern, your fans or customers will tell you what they want, then all you have to do is give it to them :)

Hey there! Thanks for your story......I will succeed too. Ive just started but theres absolutely nothing that will bar me from achieving my dreams. Except one that is......time! I just hope i have enough time and thats what Im making right now. first I see my self in that realm atmosphere in wich Im a winner. If I can only see that in the end of the tunnel than I know i can make it. Discipline and motivation x time and focus are the only recipy for victory. if we only plan to succeed then we wont fail by not planning to. every minute every hour every day is a great day to be successful. measure your victories in very short terms and youll take frustation and negativity off your plan. nothing is easy. hard work and focus is king

My first sale was a commission of 99$ ... I couldn't believe.
I said I will do seo ( what I do ) until the next sale.
After a month I couldn't take it anymore .... to much work. I abandoned it. In 2 day after I made another sale. :D

Driving traffic to your site is the most challenging aspect of affiliate marketing. Before turning to paid forms of traffic, make sure to fully explore the free methods first like forum posting, article submission and blog commenting. Same here, theres a lot of trial and error when you first start off, but if you stick to it you'll figure out what works and what doesn't. Its a big relief once you get to that point.
