The term "authority site" gets bandied about quite a bit. In Marc’s view an authority site is something a little more than the usual adsense or affiliate site. It involves taking your website to a higher level and providing more community interactivity and a greater degree of service. If it’s done correctly, setting up an authority site means setting up a site that practically builds itself, and will be a site that other sites have difficulty catching up to.
Marc doesn’t recommend going straight into building authority sites if you’re a newbie to affiliate marketing. It can take a lot of logistical and marketing skill to launch, and a bit of capital to build. Without a bit of experience in your niche market, it could be very easy to launch a site and then have it flop.
