… We’re making Affilorama free.

Why free?

Affilorama exists because I’m passionate about affiliate marketing, and I want to help others do well for themselves and their families. This might sound strange coming from an internet marketer, but I run Affilorama for the love of it, not because of the financial reward. When compared with the amount I earn building and running my other affiliate and niche websites, the income I earn from Affilorama memberships is pretty insignificant. So, I thought, why not make it free? For the amount of time and work that goes into Affilorama, it seems a great shame that more people aren’t using it.
So this week we’ll be closing the doors to Affilorama memberships. Current members will still be able to access the materials and the forum, but we won’t be signing up anybody new. We’re going to spend a few months reviewing our existing course content, re-recording videos where necessary, adding new lessons and making things easier to find and more intuitive to follow.

Will it be the same? In some ways.

  • We’re definitely keeping our forum, which has proven to be one of the most useful resources for newcomers to Affilorama. The only difference is that this will be open to the public.
  • We’ll still be providing lessons in video format, but we’ll be re-jigging our videos so that they’re more accessible.
  • We’ll still be providing comprehensive lesson notes that you can print out and refer to later.
  • We’ll still be meeting and greeting with the big voices in the industry, getting the inside on the latest views, techniques, technologies and personalities.

What’s going to change?

  • Um, first, it’ll be free! That’s a pretty big change.
  • You might see a little less of me personally in Affilorama. I’m going to be spending more time doing what I do best (which is being an internet marketer, working on my own products and my own affiliate sites) and you’ll see a more diverse range of contributors on Affilorama. Some of these people you will have heard from before, others have been quietly working in the background for a while. I’ll still be around throwing in my two cents on the forum, don’t worry about that!

I’m very keen to set a new standard for the internet marketing community with Affilorama. There are too many people out there charging money for rubbish products and taking advantage of people in vulnerable situations. This hurts all of us honest marketers who do work hard to provide a good product, good advice, and high customer satisfaction.

So by making Affilorama free I hope that you’ll have a better idea of what you should be getting when you pay money for a product. (Hint: It should be at least half as good as this free one!) I also hope that we’ll be able to help a lot more people to make a good living for themselves online with the information we teach. I hope that having a free resource like Affilorama will encourage more people to take the leap and start making changes for themselves. We only get one shot at this thing called life — you gotta go out there and make the most of it.

So that’s it, people! That’s the big announcement. Love the idea? Hate the idea? Think it’s going to be good for Affilorama or bad like a bad thing? Not everything is set in stone at the moment, so feel free to express your opinions here.

All the best everyone, keep watching this space for status updates over the next few months :)

Mark

P.S. Members remember… it’s business as usual for you guys. Keep an eye out for the October update — it’ll be the last for a while, and it’s due out today.

Wow! Not sure if I really grasp the concept - but free is free. It is totally unexpected and worthy of further comment. The montly fee is surely good value and you are giving it away? I cannot believe it. There has to be something more to this that I am missing but I cannot see it for now. Anyway, good luck. You have surely already made a lot of friends but this will cement your reputation further. I, for one, will be watching and supporting you in any future efforts. Thanks.

This can only be a good development, although, I have no idea how you plan to sustain it without charging for the expenses to run it. I hope the new re-rigged version is as good if not better than the current one. Just one thing I’m curious about….will have a quota of members or will it be accessible to everyone at anytime?

What I like about your marketing style is that you are not pushy, what you do is always execellent quality, and you are willing to be generous with sharing knowledge.

This new idea will only increase your popularity!

Mark

It is good to know that you are going to be revamping the website. There is an extrordinary amount of useful information on it.

The passion you put into your efforts to educate people shows. I prefer to read what you are passionate about, rather than having content on a regular basis.

The interviews you did were a true bonus. The information contained in them is priceless.

Thanks for the effort you have put in and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Hi,
I just joined two days ago! I think a free Affiliorama is great (and almost wish I’d waited) but won’t this annoy the people that have been paying for your exclusive lessons and information?

Mark,

I know that I’m the new guy on the block. I signed up with Jim Edwards “The Net Reporter.com program a few weeks before I signed up for yours. I like yours better and not because it is less. I like it because you truly care in giving your best and it shows in the quality of your work.
I listen to 3-5 of your lessons everyday and I would be happy to pay 5 times the amount that you charge without thinking twice. Your content and your style is just that good. You make us new people feel warm and welcome.

Thank you,
Randy

I hope that you continue to be a part of all the lessons that you teach. I always look forward in your lessons

Mark, what an interesting character you are, and what a unique rarity among the Internet Marketers. actually yesterday i just asked to not continue my subscription beyond this month, not because affilorama isn’t a great site, but after several months membership the fee basicly becomes for the monthly updates and started looking too much.
So i applaud you for knowing where your integrity compass points and following it’s direction, rare enough in most walks of life!

Affilorama is a fabulous coaching programme…appreciate the effort you and your team have put into this!

Thanks,

The catch! It’s because many people like myself were sold on th idea of buying a lifetime membership with a higher amount initially but then no payment. So what might be an exciting news for you monthly paying members, us, the early adopters who demonstrated faith in Affilorama in the early days, it might not be such a good news.

Because let’s be realistic. The site was not profitable, but since Mark was charging some of you, he had to commit himself to keep it somehow active. Now, by giving it for free, no real commitment and nobody can complain about it, it’s free!

Is this fair from this side of the fence? NO
Is this good news for people who joined recently? Yes

From Affilorama -

Dan - You’re not too far wrong with your assessment. Affilorama is definitely not the largest earner in my portfolio. It is definitely the most labor intensive. However, as an early adopter you would have noticed that we were providing regular updates even while we were still on the "lifetime membership" plan. The shift to monthly billing simply gave us a more regular deadline.

Where you are wrong is in thinking that by making Affilorama free we’re freeing ourselves of any commitment. We’re investing quite a lot of time and effort over the upcoming months re-recording content, redesigning the site and generally making it a lot more accessible. One big change, and one major motivation for the switch is that currently Affilorama is very much centered around me. I’m not denying the fact that I’d like to distance myself a little bit from Affilorama, since the private coaching side of things does absorb a LOT of my time which (from a business perspective) could be better spent elsewhere.

But you shouldn’t think that this equates to a complete lack of commitment to maintaining and updating Affilorama. As you’ll know… stale content doesn’t do particularly well in this industry. We’ll have to keep on our game.

What you might not realize is that having Affilorama as a free resource is actually a step forward for us, not a step backwards. As you know, I’ve made my living as an affiliate for a long time. There are many many ways of maintaining a profitable website without having to sell your own product. I’m not saying that we’re going to be pimping Affilorama to the gills with ads and hard sells. We’re going to be maintaining the integrity and honesty that you’ve come to expect from us. If that means Affilorama running at a loss for a while, then so be it — we’re strong enough to keep it up. But of course we’re not going to do very well if we let it all go stale.

Realistically, I think you’re going to encounter this catch with any "lifetime membership" offer you subscribe to. Not many "lifetime memberships" are actually lifetime. It’s more a case of the "lifetime" of the actual product — So long as there is a fee, you don’t have to pay it.

That sounds like we’re weaseling out of things with semantics. I don’t think you can say we’ve promised "Whoa, lifetime membership, what a bargain!" and then run away with your money after a couple of months. I don’t think we’ve done that. Most people on lifetime memberships have been members for over a year.

I know there are going to be some annoyed people with this move. I’m truly sorry if anyone feels like they’ve missed out or been cheated in some way — that was never our intention.

Mark

Perhaps this decision was prompted by falling paid memberships.

Hi Mark

Not so good news :( Especially for those that have paid for life time membership and already have affiliates under them.

Anyway, if this is the business decision, just got to live with it.

I suppose, since it is going to be free, you will be dedicating less time here. Less monthly videos as well.

Hope that when it is converted to Free, the same quality can still remain.

All the best

Now you may make it free. Incredible.

I have heavily promoted Affilorama, because I believe in it. There is so much information for Internet marketers, it is like attending, pre-school, elementary school, high school, college and graduate school, all in one place.

You walk the talk. You believe in Reciprocity. You are one of the good guys. This will all come back to you, a hundredfold.

Be well. Stay well. Keep doing what you are doing. I applaud you, my friend.

Hello,

Do you really mean what you’ve sent me in the mail and reading here? Unbelievable I will say! :(

But I am still not able to grasp - will few days is that I will not have the chance of making money via the affiliate program. Hmm - what a change I will have to carry out on my site now.

I’d really heavily recommended this program and the site is now getting traffic and growing. Okay, no probs. I wish you the best and thanks for helping the internet marketing community.

Not so great for those who bought the so-called lifetime subscription, it is? To find out that it’s all being given away for nothing, and that "lifetime" means for as long we feel like doing it, which may be just a few months more.

From Affilorama:

Hi AKS - Just to respond to your comment. We are still "doing it". Just not in the same way. I’m still going to be updating it, but instead of "monthly updates", it’ll be updated as and when it is needed and beneficial to users to do so (rather than overkill with too much to go through). In future, updates will be categorized under the appropriate training section that they belong (e.g. PPC training update, new lesson 8.0). So people realize that they should have watched the previous 7 lessons before watching the update, or whatever (hope that makes sense).

Personally, I purchased John Reese’s traffic secrets and that dropped by $600 from the price that I paid for it (less than the drop from affilorama becoming free). Now it is off the market. Yet I still feel that it was of mega value (even though others got it for much cheaper than what I paid) and I am glad I got it and applied what I learnt when I did. Was I ripped off? No, I got good value. Others got it cheaper, yes, but later, long after I’d earned more than my money back. Prices of products change. But you will still be getting affilorama access AND there will be more updates, just not necessarily monthly (although they might just turn out to be monthly, just depends on how fast internet marketing changes).

Kind regards,

Mark

Mark, I just wanted to tell that Affilorama is one of the few affiliate marketing programs I promote and recommend 100%. (And I am very selective with what I promote… maybe too much, but I prefer to see my readers happy than making more money).

LEt’s see what’s coming next… I understand your decision. We affilate and Internet marketers like Freedom… And replying to answers in a membership site (even if you do like it) takes a lot of your time.

Thank you for a tremendous value Mark.

Hi Mark,

I’m a lifetime member and while in some ways I’m disappointed that you are going to make affilorama free, I must say that for the couple of hundred dollars I paid for my lifetime membership, I have more than gained that value from it. I’m now earning a full time living online and Affilorama has been a pivotal part in my current success.

It has also worked out a LOT cheaper than if I had been a monthly member for all that time. However, I hope that you come up with some sort of preferrential treatment for us lifetime members :)

Either way, I can only admire you for all the enormous value that you have given and the fact that you are giving this away for free is only a testimony to your character.

Good luck and stay well.

Agree with most of the previous comments regarding the content and quality of Affilorama- only slight gripe is that I got lifetime access recently by buying something through your affiliate link - without being harsh if I’d known that this was in the pipeline then (was only about 5 weeks ago) I probably would have bought through someone else’s link to get their bonuses (there were quite a lot of juicy bonuses on offer). Can’t argue with the content of Affilorama so shouldn’t grumble.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed your recent European trip and that Edinburgh (where I’m based) treated you well.

Cheers

Over the last couple of month’s I’ve checked out other training member sites and your’s is by far the front runner.Your style and your integrity is also, way in front of the pack. Please, Please, Please let me know when you decide to launch again. I’ll have to go to my second choice until then. Even if you decide to open again at a greater cost, please let me know. The value is there and I would not hesitate again. I cannot understand how you plan on keeping to the same level of training without somehow covering the cost’s which must be tremendous.

Well, I have to agree with one of the other comment ahead of me. The reason I bought LIFETIME membership was to get just that. A lifetime membership of top quality trainning.
Thats why I paied more. Now you have my money and I have a site your changing and who knows What my liftime membeship value will be worth. I guess “Zero” now becuase its a free for “ALL”. Word to the wise. LIFETIME means the lifetime of the business not ourlife time. Just a bit disappointed Mark.

Just a thought; maybe you could charge a small monthly fee for forum membership? Just in case the forum gets overun with idiots, a fee might put ‘em off and keep the place for serious people. Just an idea.

I am now earning an internet income because of Affilorama; specifically because of Sean, Adrian and Mark Ling and the Affilorama forum. The videos pointed me in the right direction but the advice that was “real time” from the forum was what pushed me over each hurdle, doubt and distraction. Like Mark, I have very little time for the forum now (and I miss it!) because in addition to Internet marketing I now run a web design studio and an information resource blog (Mimentum) - just Google for it its always on page 1 of Google as is my site name Mimenta - another thanks to Sean, Adrian andnMark!
Mark this is a great thing you have done. For a long time the scam artists have been giving us a bad name, cross promoting their rubbish amongst their cliques of friends and preying on those who need good advice the most. Now they have access to it.

Just reading the sceptical and cynical comments leaves me wondering what has internet marketing done to these people?

Anyway, keep up the good work!

For those are upset about Mark making this a free site - you’re totally focusing on the wrong thing.

You’re more concerned about *other people paying no money* for the information than you are concerned about *yourself making more money* from the information.

It’s often the majority who adopt this kind of perspective who end up not succeeding in internet marketing. If you are upset, and you’re reading this, I hope you trash this worthless belief.

The blueprints to become successful are there…. who cares if it’s free now? Use it, take action and get rich. FORGET about those are happier now that they don’t have to pay monthly. That doesn’t mean squat - and in reality, it has nothing to do with your chance of success.

I am sad that you shut shop. I have to wait till it reopens. As a newbie to the affiliate marketing, I learnt so much even from your free videos. I was planning to join in the first week of November to get billed in my new credit cycle in my credit card( All the useless ebooks are killing me). I missed the boat and have to wait till you reopen.

Your lessons are definitely valuable and I don’t mind joining and paying for it even now instead of waiting for it to re open.

Hello Mark.I very glad to listen that you will make affilorama free. But I think that will be better for you and for others, that you will be paid also money after result (for example if i succedeed as affiliate or with my website you will get reward for helping me to successed.)
The reason why i not buy any products from internet because people selling e-books,promithing millions and you (i) after reading this books make zero or some little dollars. What is very important is get your own result on the end.Be very glad if you help me with my website: http://www.fullsurveysguide.com to succeded also.

Hey Mark,

I bought the lifetime membership for $200 quite a while ago now and I must say it has been the best investment I’ve ever made! I understand what you mean by running out of time and needing to focus on more profitable parts of your business.

One thing we all have to realize is that Mark does NOT make his money off selling “make money online” products. He makes his money off affiliate marketing and product creation/marketing. I have spent thousands of dollars on training programs, and after every purchase I was left feeling like you got some decent information - but really are not any further along than you were before buying it.

That has not been the case with Affilorama. Although I have not been the most active member (I too needed to focus on other parts of my business), Mark has personally helped me more than I could ever pay him back for.

Mark - feel good about your decision here. It is the smartest decision for your businesses. You have helped a TON of people start making money online and now that Affilorama is free it will help many more in the upcoming years.

To those feeling like you were somehow ripped off by paying for a lifetime membership… Is the information not worth the $200? To paying members, wasn’t it worth $30 per month? Who cares if others got it for less… You could even argue that you will probably get more from it because you did pay for it and probably feel like you need to get your money’s worth.

Anyways, just wanted to say keep up the good work Mark! You are a rare gem amongst Internet Marketers.

Hello Mark,

I would appreciate it very much if you would Please take a few minutes and read this email.

For a moment, after I came across your site I thought I had found the affiliate party I had been looking for all along.

Then Bang !!!!!!!!! Like a shot in the dark night, you hit me with the, “Sorry not taking anyone else”.

Please don’t misunderstand, I am not angry.
Just seriously dissapointed.

I have followed along with Brad at SEO, and wished so much I could afford to purchase the new Affiliate Elite. But, for me it wasn’t possible.
I even tried to think of a way to borrow the money to buy Brad’s program. I almost had enough, and then he announced the $49 monthly cost. That’s when I had knew I couldn’t afford the program.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY!

You see up till 3 yrs. ago, I owned and operated 3 multi-faceted businesses. I was in Research for nearly 28 yrs.
I was married to the same man almost 20 years, he was also my business partner in 2 of the businesses. I ran a household and raised 2 children. The children weren’t biologically related, but, both ended up with Epilepsy.

ONE DAY IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS I WAS RUSHED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT OUR LOCAL HOSPITAL.
THERE IS WHERE I DIED AND WAS REVIVED. AFTER A 10 STAY IN THE ICU, THEN REGULAR ROOM, I WAS ALLOWED TO GO HOME.
THAT WAS WHEN THE DOCTORS INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD NO LONGER BE ABLE TO WORK PHYSICALLY. I JOINED THE RANKS OF THE DISABLED.
YOU SEE I HAD GIVEN TO MUCH OF MYSELF FOR OVER 20 YRS. MAKING OTHER PEOPLES’ LIVES BETTER. THERE WERE MANY, MANY, TIMES WHEN I NEVER CHARGED SOMEONE FOR MY HELP.
I DID INDEPENDENT PRODUCT AND CHEMICAL RESEARCH FOR A COUPLE OF LARGE CORPORATIONS. ONE OF THE REASONS MY RIGHT LUNG, AND MY NERVE ENDINGS ARE DAMAGED. IT ALSO AFFECTED MY HEART.
BUT, I HAVE TO SAY THE BIGGEST BLOW CAME WHEN MY HUSBAND OF NEARLY 20YRS. DECIDED HE WANTED A DIVORCE. YOU SEE I NO LONGER COULD WORK 50+ HOUR DAYS. LITERALLY !!
HE WIPED OUT ALL OF THE ASSESTS, THE BANK ACCOUNTS, AND LEFT ME WITH ABSOLUTELY NOT SO MUCH AS A DOLLAR BILL. FOR REAL!
THEN MY DAD DIED IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR, LEAVING MY 79 YR OLD MOTHER ALONE. HE HAD DIFFERENT TYPES OF CANCER FOR NEARLY 11 YRS. STRAIGHT. THE LAST 4 YRS. HE HAD TO UNDERGO MASSIVE CHEMO/OTHER TREATMENTS. WHICH WIPE OUT EVERY PENNY THEY HAD. MY MOM LOST HER HOME AND HAD TO SELL EVERYTHING SHE COULD.
THEN IS WHY I STARTED LOOKING INTO AFFILIATE MARKETING!!

If you were to look at me on the outside, you would never know there was so much wrong with me.
My body became impaired, not my Brain!

I was on ClickBank Marketplace, I was going over Robyn Obie’s children books, and her free material for anyone wanting to get started in writing childrens books.

I copied every once of her material, so that I could place the material as one lesson, after the other, for my new website. Thereby giving her credit, and also hoping to boost her Childrens’ books for the holiday! In hopes of earning badly needed money.

That is how I found your Affilorama Site.

I am a ClickBank affiliate, as well as a SEO (bryxen software) affiliate.

The only reason my website isn’t up and running strong right now, is because of a bad ordeal with a not so honest affiliate marketer.

I had to sever my association with the web hosting company, thereby having to wait on transfer of my Registered Domain Name. Which is my Granddaughter’s name.

While waiting for the transfer to come through, I have begun to design some smaller sites, on which I will be placing my affiliate items.

Mark, it is unbelievable, that I reached your site, had such great hopes and felt them deflate as I read the letter you prepared for the members you already have.

I thought for once I might be able to get a little help for free, I am not a lazy person, I have high standards, and am focused on earning the money I need to better mine and my Mom’s lives.

I don’t regret even for one second that my helping others out along life’s highway, lead me to being Disabled and living on $600 a month. I wouldn’t change anything, I would do it all again! Because, I know I was able to make a possitive impact by helping to protect the consumer and their families.

Mark I really don’t know why I spent the time to write all of this to you. Except for maybe I just needed to let you know, I think you are truly an exception to the online money making game.

Best Regards,

Virginia

Wow this is fantastic, I’ve been reading your ezine for almost a year now. It’s got some great information in it and I’ve always thought about becoming a member but thought I’d wait until I had more time to use all the information, as over the last 2 years most of my time has gone into learning about building websites and that was with SBI which seems to be the best when it comes to websites but when it comes to making money from those websites there’s a lot more that I need to learn and now I find out that what I need next is totally free and from what I’ve heard is the best for teaching how to make money from most things to do with the internet. It’s just really really great thanks Mark, so I’ve got my websites and now I’m going to become a member as soon as I can so that I can start making better returns from my traffic.

I have NEVER doubted Mark Ling, producing QUALITY content,
not in the past, nor in the future.

This will indeed be a challenge for Mark,
simply because of the “INTERNET” and the many claims made.

- you get exactly what you pay for
- WYSIWYG….what you see is what you get.

What it boils down to is LOYALTY, pure and simple.

Mark,
I have never had the pleasure of speaking with you and I realize you do not know me from Adam. However, I just found your site recently after spending 6 months of buying information from the “Internet Guru’s” and was able to learn valuable information but could not really do anything with it. Well after reading your lessons and watching your videos I have now launched 3 new websites with the one I listed being my newest venture that I will have up and running within the next couple of days and actually starting to earn money for the first time. Now I am not sure who to affiliate with as I wanted to promote your products due to how I finally found something that works. Please let me know if you have any other products that you let people affiliate for you as I would be honored to do them all. If you are currently focused on affiliating other peoples products could you let me know what ones as I trust your integrity. Thanks again for lending me a helping hand whether you realized it or not. Rich
